Bungie Community Manager David Dague discusses the Destiny game experience and how the closed beta is helping shape the online experience in this exclusive interview.
Kickball. Epic Deej. Epic. I missed out on the alpha, due to me and my kids being away on the Canary Islands for the past two weeks. With utterly useless Wifi. Great post, informative. So you guy´s who have played this game, how is it? BL-Halo mix?
Think of Borderlands always being online and with other players always around. Almost like a Halo MMO.
It has a pretty distinct Halo feel, but doesn't feel very much like borderlands, even though it has some of that. The platforming in Destiny feels much more satisfying, and the upgrades to your character, and gear are leagues beyond what Borderlands was able to convey. The loot hunter instinct kicks in, treasure box hunting, best gear loadout setup, it all feels fresh for some reason, even though every game before it has done at least something like it. The co-op ability in this game is where it shines. You are always online, and people drop in and out of your world randomly. You can choose to party with these people, or your friends can just jump into your world. Just exploring Old Russia was worth 20+ hours of my time, and it didn't get boring for my self, and friends. Controls are solid on the PS4, but I'm sure it will be just as good on Xbox One. It feels fresh, and that is one of the biggest take aways I got from playing it. To relate it to other games does it no justice, it has something special that is hard to put into words. But if you want the main reason it feels so great, I would say its the fact that you can play with your friends so easily.
Wow, thx for answering. Extensive but well written and informative. I really liked the part about exploration (old Russia)and your 20+ hour comment. This is probably my most anticipated game of the summer (erhm...I mean Beta). Kudos my man, kudos.
Yeah there is this big bouncy ball in the Tower which you can 'kick' around. It's pretty funny.
