"The guys over at Open World Games on Youtube made a time lapse video for Destiny, the video of course shows off the day and night cycles, and they are beautiful."
Were you expecting tornados and hurricanes? The only thing I didn't like was all the ash/flakes on screen, I didn't get to spend much time in game to explore everywhere. Was a little distracting for me and took away how awesome this game looks. Hoping that was just in that area for me and not present in every outside environment.
I get a borderlands/bio shock feel from my time spent in the game. Never played halo so no idea how much is taken from that community. Seems this is going to pick up people from all kinds of games so it should make an interesting mix for play styles/trading.
For me at least, the "Alpha" reminded me a lot of a cross between Borderlands and Fallout 3. It does seem to have a bit of Halo influence, but I only really noticed it in the weapons. The area given for you to explore seemed pretty large but it was larger than some players ever found. There were many dead-end corridors and rooms but there were also many passages that led to other areas to explore. Many I have spoken with never saw the inside of one of the great walls in the area, or the flooded highway tunnel entrance still choked with rusting vehicles. Some never explored enough to make it to the old harbor. I myself never made it far underground due to some powerful enemies lurking there.
Destiny will definitely offer a lot of opportunity for exploration in ruined areas, much like Fallout 3, but not so "open world" and with co-op gameplay much like Borderlands. I have never been a fan of the Halo series but I was very impressed with Destiny.
There has clearly been footage from No Man's Sky that showcases how you get around. In No Man's Sky you can get into a spaceship and fly into the farthest reaches of space whereas in borderlands, you go to the end of the map to the 'Gateway' and 'load-screen' your way to another map.
I can't wait to play the Beta, I hope it is even better then the Alpha!
Forget Halo, this is the future by the people that really brought us Halo in the first place! I have my beta code ready!
The were some areas that had some scenes that were WOW! That's where I'd stop sit and take a snapshot.
It's amazing what they've been able to accomplish in just the alpha beta. This is looking like the true spiritual successor to Halo maybe even better.
Instant mute!
Looks good but sped up like that you can see how they are just layers of scrolling flat cloud. Lighting is great though.
