Polyphony Digital Inc. (PDI) and FIA to Form Long-term Partnership

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the creators of the highly-acclaimed Gran Turismo® series, Polyphony Digital Inc. (PDI), today announced exciting plans for a long-term innovative partnership. The FIA’s role as the governing body of motor sport worldwide, and the representative of almost 80 million road and track users from 141 countries on five continents, will help grow the direct relationship between the millions of fans of Gran Turismo and the real-world of motor sport. Sounds like Sony and Polyphony have big plans for Gran Turismo 7

Oh yeah, Kazunori Yamauchi said himself that best case scenario it could come out this year, because PD didn't want to take too long:

""We don't want to take too long on Gran Turismo 7," Kazunori told us. "Best-case scenario? Next year. In GT6 we really had to tune the software 100 per cent to maximise the PS3's architecture, but of course the PS4's hardware is much better, so I think the overall quality of the game across the board will be boosted when you come to play it"."

That article was dated last November.
PD are already at 1440X1080, hitting 60FPS, with dips in GT6 on PS3, so hitting a solid 1920X1080 60FPS locked, with a huge boost in detail shouldn't be a problem.

My thoughts exactly... Can't wait to see the first glimpse.

Its about time PD flexed some proper Formula 1 muscle... GT7..cant wait!

@UltraNova GT has had Formula One cars in it for some time, I don't mind PD adding to the roster.

TBH personally I hope they just try to make the cars & tracks they do have look & feel as realistic as possible, while locking down that magical 1920X1080 60FPS.

Yes I know I've owned all GT games and logged over 100hrs + on each. What I want is true F1 integration not just an afterthought of something 'cool to be in the game' like one Ferrari one-seater from way back then.. I'm talking about a huge roster of F1 teams, realistic performance characteristics, real F1 tracks and F1 related events the whole deal!

the amount of data Polyphony would need to simualte F1 cars in Gran Turismo is not only incredibly large but F1 teams would be unwilling to share their data or allow Polyphony to test the cars to gather their own.

it would be insane if F1 ever came to GT but it will never happen :/

...Not unless you have a game director who has race experience under his belt... His deep in there...Im pretty sure they will cut him some slack as long as the F1 teams are ok with it....

the one thing they should focus on before even delving into F1 is fixing all of the problems that GT5 and GT6 had. Gt6 fixed a lot of problems that GT5 had, but there are still a bunch more that remains, like sound and improving on Damage. Damage varies between cars, which is pretty disappointing.

Actually they can as F1 teams will be wiling 'lend' their competitively obsolete cars, in f1 speak that's 2 year old models the ones they use to show off in various events and ultra rich douche-bag track days.

However, I m not sure anyone has the time to deal with a bunch of video game nerds trying to gather metrics... especially F1's big 4...

Imagine though they pulled it off, I would take that 2012 Red Bull missile down Green Hell (Nurburgring) and burn some serious rubber for days on end...

Gran Turismo 6 and Polyphony Digital are on fire, first game ever certified by FIA, new Nissan and Aston Martin Vision GT to be revealed at Goodwood this week, steady release of patches that bring new tracks and cars FOR FREE...I guess my 110+hours of play time speaks for themself to show how much I love GT6. It's the only game I constantly keep playing every month since I bought it on Day 1...my mind can't even imagine how mindblowing GT7 will be.

I cannot wait for GT7, as I skipped 6 because I got a ps4. Same thing happened to GT4, I keep missing the "refined" gran turismos, lol
