Developers confirm that Sony has excellent relationships with indies and is still leading the scene on consoles.
This plus better multiplats and AAA games will prove as the best strategy for a console, Sony was doing everything right in first place.
I'm looking forward to seeing the indie flood that hits this generation of consoles :)
Unfortunately, that is what it looks like. A ton of indie games and a few AAA games. There are already so many indie games on the PSN. I HATE indie games. I tried a few, watched gameplay videos of even more and they all are crap to me. Yes, there is a gem here and there but I'm not willing to poke around in 100 tons of trash to find a 1mm diamond. Sony should have a better policy of what they put on their system. Like what Nintendo had with their seal of quality. Don't just let any Joe put on the Playstation store.
You don't have to play them all. Just watch gameplay videos and make a choice.
I like indies, but still prefer triple AAA. Show me the games Sony.
On that, I will have to agree with you. I prefer AAA, or even AA if done right.
@mrpsychoticstalker Yeah Ps4 haz no Gamez! Just a little more AAA Than X1 but I failed to realize it as always! Jeez.. More AAA an More Indies for your information.
I agree. There a few good indie games, but Indies are secondary. Sony give me more AAA/AA games... please :)
@psychotic everyone knows you don't have a ps4. You have 16 Xbox ones so you can host your own games :) JK but we know you don't got the ps4.
@psychotic, YOu PM me with someone else's PSN name who also has that name on N4g.com and is more of a Sony fan. You got mad jokes According to Psychotic he is also this guy http://n4g.com/user/comment... and this guy http://gamercards.exophase.... and this guy http://www.twitch.tv/insomn... hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Trolling hard today I see. Xbone fanboys are so pathetic
It's really great to see people looking at Indies in a positive light. Both Sony and Nintendo have recognized Indies as an important resource for supporting their consoles, and they wisely rose to the task of supporting them all. Nintendo, especially, is in need of good indie games, since the AAA third parties keep hurting the wii u with horribly done ports instead of good new games with proper support. I hope that the gaming community will start giving the better Indies more credit going forward, too.
No Man's Sky was a huge win. I wish they could have gotten Ori as well though.
Indeed, No Man's Sky is shaping to be an unforgettable indie game
Ori is an MS owned IP though ... how could they have gotten it?
Props to Sony on their indie support. The unknown indie of today is the naughty dog of 2morow.
Hello Games just might be that next Naughty Dog. I want No Man's Sky.
Am I the only PS4 owner who gets turned off when I see mobile games and 8 bit games for sale on my PS4? I understand ppl enjoy playing them, and I understand there is a market for them, but I feel the direction of the console is taking a dangerous turn and way too many owners are ok with it. Maybe I'm just jumping the gun a little. I know that in 2 years time the platform will have many AAA games, but I just worry that if the small titles do too well, that SONY will alter its business model to create more small games in place of the huge ones because they're way more cost efficient. Similar to what Xbox tried to do with Kinect. Create shovelware in place of real games because the overhead is non existent for those games. Thoughts?
No you're not, I don't buy a console to play indie games I could have played a year ago on my phone or PC. Thats why my PS4 sits there collecting dust. I multiplat on PC, Sony has a sorry excuse for AAA's on the PS4 right now and I don't consider Drive Club or The Order the savior for the year. It will be the end of 2015 before PS4 has a decent library of exclusives, and that's just sad.
Compared to what PC and WiiU? It's got more games on every front then the other one.
If you are saying the PS4 or WiiU has more exclusives or indies than a PC, then you are just plain brain dead.
As long as these smaller games are made to be very entertaining, then I don't see the issue with that. For instance, despite its name, the upcoming indie game Shovel Knight is nowhere near being of shovel ware grade, not even compared to AAA games. There's a lot of love and solid, fun, well-built gameplay in that title, so much so that it's scope being smaller doesn't really matter. The source or scope of a game isn't what counts. What counts is how solid its entertainment value is.
Your worries are understandable. What you described is exactly what Sony is trying to do with the Vita right now. Putting indies and smaller titles on the forefront and AAA on the back burner.
Exactly. It is SONY's stance on the Vita which has led me to be wary of the PS4. I own both and I'm worried about the entire direction of the industry. Development for these new higher tech games is very very expensive. The business model is going to make a left turn and I'm not cool with that.
All I care about is that I have a lot of good games to play. I don't care about the budget, or whether or not the developer is indie. Just bring me a host of good games. Making them exclusive gives me a reason to buy the console, and not making boneheaded policies means I have fewer reasons to say no. Sure, a big stable of AAA titles is awesome. But this IS Sony we're talking about: they have never given a reason to worry about that.
@SpinalRemains138 Yeah. I agree with you there. The NES style of indie games just aren't my thing. The Dev kits are capable of much more than a re-make of the 8 bit Rambo game. But there's some new indies coming soon, they look alot better than the first batch. Drifter, source, and skulls of the shogun look pretty good. The rest of the upcoming indies don't impress me very much.
Sony is the indie king and nobody can dethrone them!
Yeah, good for them, that's like being runner up in the Special Olympics.
How so? Your comment does nothing but make you look childish.
OldDude is a troll.
Its true though. Sony is leading the way in bringing cutting edge indie titles to the playstation 4. Its the best place to play exclusive indie titles as well as award winning AAA games.
Tied with Nintendo, actually. Both are doing a lot to give Indies a firm footing in the big leagues.
More indie games being pushed means more games for gamers and I am fine with that
Being mostly a steam gamer, the indie scene on the Ps4 is phenomenal. Having a big indie support on the system made it easier which console to buy.
