10 Cringeworthy Final Fantasy Moments

Throughout its celebrated history, the Final Fantasy series has had more than its fair share of epic moments, from heroic sacrifices and tearjerking tragedies to triumphant victories and dramatic revelations.

The franchise’s serious moments are frequently interspersed with more light-hearted ones, which range from the enjoyable to the downright ridiculous. Many of these moments are hilarious (such as anything involving talking octopus Ultros in Final Fantasy VI), but others are nothing short of cringeworthy and difficult to watch without facepalming. (Final Fantasy, PC, PS2, PS3, Retro, Xbox 360)

I don't really see how the Orphanage is cringe worthy or lazy. It's said in the game that GF's cause memory loss because of the power it holds. The more GF's the more things you forget. So it made sense when you saw that scene that they obviously forgot about each other, they still remembered they were at the Orphanage they just forgot who was there and what they did.

As for the Real Emotion in Final Fantasy X-2 I thought it was great, the song was really catchy aswell and fit in with the theme of the game. Even the 1000 words song sung by the same singer, Jade Villalon. Again I don't see how it's cringe worthy.

If you take something like Final Fantasy 13 or something like Blue Dragon they are games which are filled to the brim with cringe worthy moments.

To be fair, the fact that GFs give people amnesia was first mentioned after the orphanage backstory was revealed, so I can see how people think it's a lazy plot twist. Maybe if there had been more hints throughout the game that GFs have a negative effect on the brain (or that the characters had some sort of childhood connection) it might not have seemed so out-of-the-blue.

Though I'd say it's more random than cringe-worthy.

I think what people seem to forget is that story plot points such as that have been in so many Final Fantasy games. People seem to think these games stories have all been perfect when really each game has plot holes or missing/quick added plot points in the story.

I mean people like to say things about Final Fantasy VIIIs story yet look at all the crap that was in Final Fantasy VIIs story for example.

It's Final Fantasy at the end of the day, if you want a real tragedy look at Final Fantasy XIIIs story. That's a mess from the beginning to the very end.

Actually, in the beginning of the game there are one or two NPC at Balamb Garden who mention briefly that GFs can cause amnesia. But it's said as a rumor, and the second one even says something in the lines of "don't believe people who say GFs cause amnesia". It's only stupid that so few people talk about it, and it's treated like a rumor, when nobody can remember their freaking childhoods.

It's like the writers were at the end stage of the script when they decided on this twist and shoehorned the "rumor" in the beginning of the game so they could say "well, we did tell you that GF cause amnesia..."

That last point was terrible. In context the laughing scene in ff10 mad perfect sense and wasn't weird at all.

I can't agree with most of these.

Seriously, the Orphanage scene? I mean, I love FFVIII but there are way weirder scenes to choose than that. And what's so cringeworthy about the peeing scene from FFIX? I don't get it.

I get people complaining about Vanille's voice, but Hope? He is a fucking 13 year old. We all were just as annoying when we were 13, he's just in character.

And the last one - if the writer doesn't get the point of the laughing scene in FFX and why it's made like that, he/she shouldn't write about FF in the first place.
