343i: Halo Won’t Expand Beyond Xbox One Right Now, but “We’re Listening to the PC Fans"

GR: While the Halo franchise has primarily been an Xbox-exclusive series, a handful of the games—including Halo: CE, Halo 2, and the recently-released Halo: Spartan Assault—have been made available to PC gamers. Sadly, though, it doesn't look like the upcoming Master Chief Collection will be made available to the "gaming master race" anytime soon, as 343i intends on keeping it an Xbox One exclusive... at least for now.

I truly hope they don't bring this or most games on cb1 to PC. Most people asking for it on pc are just fanboys wanting the anility to say "all xbox games are on PC." Almost noone bought halo 2 on PC, proof enough there is very little demand for it on PC.

PC will only get even more stronger from this, considering it's already master race. Halo commands big numbers, EVERYONE knows halo.

The console industry wouldn't be screwed, but the Xbox fanboys would be mad because then they wouldn't be able to challenge the PS4 fanboys with anything. The good thing to come out of this would be that the Master Chief collection would add more value to Microsoft Windows, which is exactly what Microsoft needs.

Apple is taking a bite out of the PC gaming space with more and more games being able to be played on MAC. Then you have SteamOS/Linux which will chip away a tiny bit from Windows in regards to PC gamers, especially since SteamOS is free.

Lastly you have Google, which at some point will come out with a strategy for releasing Chrome on desktop PCs. Google is seriously taking over everything it seems, and it probably wont be long before they try to make a move into the office PC space with Google Docs Office Edition, Gmail Office, and Chrome Business Edition or something along those lines.

If Microsoft releases some of their most popular games, which are only able to be played on Windows PC, then they are helping to bolster the strength of their desktop operating system. Microsoft's future is not going to be placed solely in a livingroom games console, they're too big for that.

Xbox is only one small aspect in Microsoft, and I would think that they would use Xbox assets to help other areas of their business if they can. Not to mention the large amount of software sales that Microsoft Game Studios would make with the Master Chief Collection on PC. Besides, they would probably never release the newest Halo games on PC for at least a few years, obviously to protect Xbox One, but with older software, why not?

Halo is a console shooter it always has been! Just because halo 1 and 2 came out (way later after release) does not mean that every halo game has to be released on PC.

I find it funny that people would sit there and beg for it on PC A. because most PC gamers seem to dislike Halo. and B. Why would Microsoft release one of the best reasons to buy an Xbox One. You would have a bunch of people going "why buy an Xbox One I can play halo on my PC XBOX SUXXORS NO GAMESZZZZ"

I have consoles too but rather play on PC because my PC is much more powerful, I just have no interest to play console versions of Dead Rising 3, Watch Dogs, BF4, etc, pretty much all multi platform games.

as a pc and console gamer myself I can only think of the problem that always arises when you do this. Hackers and aimbots. Maybe if they can get some good punkbuster enforcement it will be cool. I don't know if anyone remembers that Dreamcast had a few cross platform games like 4x4 evo that had online multiplayer and everyone on pc was modding the game files to give cars insane acceleration and top speeds. It was funny to watch but made legit races a bum to be in on the dc side.

Halo may be an Xbox franchise, but Halo and Halo 2 were both on PC and had a lively fan-base. There's been rumours of newer Halo games coming to PC as well, so naturally there's going to be quite a bit of interest in that.

Would I play a Halo game on PC? Hell yeah I would. Would I buy an Xbox to play Halo? No way Jose.

Is it really hard to understand that even people with an X1 MIGHT STILL WANT TO PLAY IT ON PC because it's the platform they prefer? I have a gaming PC that's more powerful that both new consoles. I've preordered the PS4 Destiny Bundle and I'll probably end up getting the X1 before the end of the year. If Destiny ends up on PC, I'll buy it again because I prefer to play FPS with M&Kb. It is a matter of platform preference. PC gamers are not here to stop you from playing or to take away your toys.

minecraft, world of tanks, planetside 2....were PC exclusive but thanks to console users asking for them...exclusives in general are a bad thing, it forces you to buy all these different systems to play all the games, imagine if all the console users decided to come to pc...you could play all the games that come out 1. better price 2. better graphics and 3. better performance/customization

That's what we call being a hypocrite. You console gamers do the EXACT same thing just as much if not more. You think I bought my gaming PC to play generic fps and third person action game console ports? No, I bought it to play the amazing PC exclusives that you can't find on consoles. You console players scream at the top of your lungs how PC has no exclusives and all we do is beg, then in the very next article you're begging and whining for a PC game that you just stated didn't even exist.

This is a worthless subjective opinion on particular games, has no value in the argument but you've said it as if to give your argument more validity.

PC gamers (some) yes are saying the consoles are terrible... because they are. Yes you spend less on the console itself but in return you get jacked up game prices, worse graphics (more on this in a bit), less functionality and customization and that's just some of the top of my head.

You state it yourself that console makers need to give a reason to buy there console, but think about it. What if every current console user hadn't bought their console and instead had got themselves a PC?

1. PCs would most likely be cheaper due to a much larger and more competitive market.

2. Every fuckin game would come out on the one platform, no more worrying about exclusives period! (I find this particular point hilarious because you buy consoles to get exclusives which inadvertently is the reason why exclusives exist).

3. Support would be improved ten fold and PC hardware would be utilized better.

4. Nothing holding PC back graphically or performance wise as all that money being spread across multiple platforms could be reinvested in the games.

It's crazy that the reasons you guys hold on to consoles so dearly would so very quickly transfer over to PC if you all just let those pieces of shit hardware go...that's why I personally argue against consoles because your choice to pick a console indirectly affects/holds back PC actually taking games to a "next-gen" level.

If you want to jump ahead you need to buy a xbox one. MS will give gamers the best gaming experience for the next 2 years.

The Xbox One, Xbox Live and the award winning gaming controller is the best choice for hundrets of gaming hours.

While PS4 owners can only mention in every article "wait until uncharted", xbox owners will alerady play tons of exclusives with all the great DLCs comming to xbox first.

The Indistation4 is a good peace of hardware but there is no reason right now to buy this machine.

It's like people have totally forgot that they said the same thing about Halo 3... Bungie said they'd look into PC.

Chances are after Halo MC Collection sells on Xbox One...they'll just continue working on building on the experience by either A...remastering more maps for the "Halo 2 Anniversary Playlist" or B... Certain Affinity will build new maps for Halo 2.

The likelihood of Halo MC Collection hitting PC is pretty slim. The team will probably move onto something different after they finish and support it. They can't waste time with PC ports because then they have to cater to two ports servers and updates. As well as optimization.

Halo Wars 2 could hit PC in the future. But considering the 343 team is growing and growing it'll just continue to push out Halo titles to sell Xbox.

I can't help but feel this is just a PR stunt designed to boost the image of the XBOX, like "Halo is so great other formats are practically begging us to bring it to them" Of all my PC gaming mates not one of them has ever expressed an interest in having Halo on PC. I've played the whole series on XBOX and 360 and it's good but if you strip away the hype it's just an average game.

i dont know about this...why would they even think about about making ports to the franchise that gives your console an identity...i know they are old games but still....there is a reason why sony or nintendo's main exclusives never come out to pc because it gives their console an identity...i think the only reason ms released halo 1 and 2 on pc is because at that time when original xbox came out...they didn't take themselves to serious as they were the new kid on the block and didnt realize how important it is to have exclusives...i hope they know how important halo is to xbox as mario is to nintendo, and uncharted is to sony...it should stay on xbox and nothing else...just my opinion...that being said..i wouldn't get mad if it did come out on pc...probably would buy it again :)
