Unity has announced the full public release of Unity 4.3 for PlayStation 4. Unity for PlayStation 4 brings support for powerful next-generation technologies such as Shader Model 5 and compute shaders, allowing developers to create truly stunning visuals.
Jimmy Vegas, amateur game dev, shares some insight into the development of our favourite pastime:
"Since the dawn of video games, gamers have longed to create their own little masterpieces, whether it be a clone of Final Fantasy, a brand new game idea, or just a mod added in to Fallout: New Vegas. Most of the time, we give up, we run out of ideas, or we just forget about it completely. For me, it's a combination of all three."
VRFocus - The wait for the full release of the Unity 5 videogame development engine remains ongoing but the company continues to update Unity 4 in the meantime. Now the company has confirmed that the latest version of the engine, Unity 4.6, will be seeing a public release this week, with further updates and patches to be rolled out across the remainder of 2015. With its release, Unity 4.6 will become the default version of the engine.
TheGamingExperience says: "So with our last installment we noted most of the last generation of game development software, but here is the entire updated list to include new software, and up-to-date ones as well."
