"When you think of the letters RPG, what's the first thing that comes to mind? Probably not pinball. But when Atlus thinks of RPG, they think "Why not Pinball?" - and that's exactly how we get crazy concepts like these. Rollers of the Realm combines pinball with an RPG, and as we all know, combining any concept with an RPG and doing it even half decently gets you solid gold. Rollers of the Realm picks up where Puzzle Quest left off with that strange combination of genres that shouldn't work but somehow does."
Indie developers Phantom Compass have released a new dev video for "Rollers of the Realm: Reunion" explaining the mashup mechanics of a pinball RPG.
Rollers of the Realm Reunion, the second instalment in the 'Rollers' series has been announced for 2022 for PC.
Excerpt - The gameplay mechanics are your typical video game pinball: flippers, bumpers, teleport holes, rails, etc. What makes it different is that each character in your party is represented by one of your balls on the table. Each ball has its own specialty. The Rogue has the ability to steal gold from characters on the table and does "backstab" damage to enemies.
Loved it! Glad to see it getting good press.
