E3 2014: The Legend of Zelda Wii U Mind-Blowing Theory

"On the 10th of June, Nintendo released a teaser trailer showing what the future of Zelda will look like. Anyone who has seen this trailer is probably thinking one thing: LASERS? There is nothing quite like lasers being fired off in Hyrule field to cause one to reminisce upon the series, thinking about how far the Zelda franchise has come."

-Ron Rogers

The story is too old to be commented.
-Foxtrot1524d ago

Good little theory however one thing bugs me

"I believe that the protagonist is none other than the original Link, the man whom the goddess Hylia choose to be her hero. This is why Link is just wearing a regular tunic. There is no legendary garb yet; he is just a normal guy. This is what Eiji Aonuma actually meant when he was talking about Link’s new look. "

Isn't the original Link the one we played in Skyward Sword, Demise in that game places a curse on Link and Zelda, declaring those who carry Link's spirit and Zelda's bloodline will be plagued by an incarnation of his hatred throughout the ages to come. So it's obvious that Skyward Sword is supposed to the the first game in the entire franchise, I highly doubt they would do a game set before Skyward Sword like you've said. If that was the case there would be no Link or Zelda.

"If my theory is correct, the upcoming Legend of Zelda game for Wii U takes place earlier than any other game in the series — centuries before Skyward Sword"

The original Link was who we played in Skyward Sword, it makes sense that this is actually a direct sequel to Skyward Sword and is the first reincarnation of Link set 100 years after Skyward Sword. We get to see how Demises curse works and most likely why we have this continuing cycle of "hatred" in each Zelda game.

Least then if what we saw in the trailer was the Lanayru Desert it could still be lush and green 100 years after SS.

Metallox1524d ago

I'd like to see finally a sequel to Zelda II :( But that's nice too.

randomass1711524d ago

If you read the manga in Hyrule Historia, you'll know that the original Link died in the great battle and the Link in Skyward Sword is his reincarnatio. Not entirely the same person, but close enough. It's hard to look at any games and say any of the Links are the same unless they are directly related like OoT and MM, and the Oracle games.

-Foxtrot1524d ago (Edited 1524d ago )

Are the manga stories cannon though to the games

Doesn't make sense to have Demise curse Link in SS so whoever holds the "hero's" soul in the future is cursed aswell....which explains why we always have Link, Zelda, the big bad when there was another Link before SS Link

How does the Link in SS look like the original Link then or holds the same name.

Honestly it makes more sense to ignore the manga, SS was to show how this cycle started, they did that perfectly....doesn't make sense to have Link/Zelda before SS. There just confusing people

I believe SS Link is the original, he was born as a normal guy who rised up against evil and was cursed along with his soul.

MrSwankSinatra1524d ago

the mange are not cannon to the games.

My Random Theories about LoZ U :

* Can play as more than just Link, as in multiple characters, but 80% of the time your Link.

* Most details revealed about the LoZ Timeline in this game than any other game before it, by far.

* 50+ Hour Main Quest

* 1 Steampunk-ish Village
* 1 Mayan-type Jungle Village
* 1 Forrest Village

* Helps reveal more info about other LoZ games too, and their connection to this game.

* CO-OP Mode ! - I think there could be some kind of Co-op elements within this game. Maybe not the Main Story, but maybe a side story or side portion to the game where you and others can all play together via online or even possibly local via the gamepad.

* New Link Colored Tunics besides Green, Blue, Red
* Assassins Creed style, Choose your Clothing Options
^ Earn more Customize options via Side Quests

* Alternate Art Style in a certain portion of the game.

randomass1711524d ago

I don't believe they would have included that manga exclusively with Hyrule Historia if they did not intend for it to be considered canon to the timeline. The theory you're suggesting could make sense, but I believe the manga is closer to what the story is aiming for. I believe this new game takes place after Ocarina of Time in one of the split timelines, not before. The art style and certainly the setting don't suggest it has anything to do with Skyward Sword in many, if any respects.

-Foxtrot1524d ago

After reading up about it, it seems, in my opinion it just confuses the story a hell lot more.

I saw interviews of Eiji Aonuma saying how he wouldn't mind doing games before Skyward Sword...but then that would feature Hylias Chosen Hero "Link"...and he would be the first Link which descendants like the Link in Skyward Sword would gain his spirit and courage. However this is just a theory

I mean the manga says this

"In Skyward Sword, Hylia was said to be severely injured during the battle against Demise. She was also the one who created Skyloft...

However, in the manga, her chosen hero was the one who was critically injured by Demise and brought the Kingdom of Hylia into the heavens with the Master Sword."

So to me that dosen't sound like the manga is sticking to what the games are telling us and is confusing people even more

I really don't know why Eiji Aonuma would support the manga as canon...all it's doing is causing more problems. He said it's because some of them fill in gaps from the timeline but when you have something like this where the manga tells you one thing but the games tell you another it's not something you should give the ok to.

I saw this aswell

"However, in the manga, it was confirmed that Hylia's chosen hero and the Goddess Hylia are reborn together thousands of years later as Link and Zelda, as Hylia wanted to live as a normal human being with her hero."

So really when you think about it

The Goddess Hylia was the one who created a reborn version of herself as a human but also made it so Link in Skyloft was the reincarnation of Hylia's Chosen Hero...so they could be friends.

Demise however is the one who's curse makes it so Link and Zelda's descendent in the future will be battling his hatred for thousands of years to come...thus creating the endless cycle of Link, Zelda, the big bad.

In conclusion Link in Skyward Sword would be the original Link FOR THE CURSE, where the cycle began but the original "Hero" was Hylia's chosen Hero way before Skyward Sword

In a way Hylia's chosen hero wasn't really given a name so Link in SKyward Sword would be the original Link....if you know what I mean, since he's the first Link to be given the name "Link". A reborn version of Hylias Hero.

Jesus Chris this is so bloody confusing. I've literally just read all this up wasting an hour fixated on the page, drooling out of my mouth.

Azurite1524d ago (Edited 1524d ago )

OK, I think it's because of how one can interpret what Demise said:

"Though this is not the end. My hate... never perishes. It is born anew in a cycle with no end! I will rise again. Those like you... Those who share the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero... They are eternally bound to this curse. An incarnation of my hatred shall ever follow your kind, dooming them to wander a blood-soaked sea of darkness for all time!"

This doesn't refer to the reincarnations of Link and Zelda but of his own hatred. In this way the manga's story actually works.

-Foxtrot1524d ago

I think it refers to Link, Zelda and his hatred

The key sentence is

"Those who share the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero"

All of Zeldas descents in bloodline

All the people who will hold the hero's spirit.

His own hatred is the fact that Link and Zelda will have to go through some form of battle or big bad like what happened in Skyward Sword. The villains are different but the people who have to face him are Link and Zelda.

Madock1524d ago

agree @-Foxtrot
Anyone remember those time stones in skyward sword?…that era had robots... and …lasers?!

RonRogers1523d ago

you see foxtrot the thing is if you observe demises dialog you will notice quite a few things.Lets just say there was alot of stuff going down before Skyward sword, I need to clairify the proof behind this so i have decided to do a part 2 of this article. However thank you for detecting where my article lacks information

I've got a really good theory.

Once you have finished the game your mind will be blown away.

George Sears1524d ago

I've got a better one.

Once you begin the game your mind will be blow away all the way up to the end. :)

Metallox1524d ago

Zelda Wii U Full Demo - E3: http://youtu.be/u_fyOkrteqM

No they haven't. E3 2011 says hello.

KonsoruMasuta1524d ago (Edited 1524d ago )

@Nextgen

The tech demo was never part of a Zelda game and was never confirmed to be a part of the Zelda game.

It was just a tech demo. It was never included in the development and was never meant to be included into the development.

Zelda U's graphics have been like this from the start.

voodoochild3461524d ago

@NexGen
That's what's known in the educated world as a tech demo. They've said several times while they were showing it in the past that it is NOT what the next Zelda would look like. Don't get mad at Nintendo because comprehension isn't your strong suit.

George Sears1524d ago

@NexGen

Do you even know what a tech demo is? A tech demo is not supposed to display how a software would become but what the hardware that powers such software is capable of doing.

It is never a final representation of nothing.

In this case, Nintendo demonstrated the capabilities of the Wii U using a familiar video game to better display there vision.

It's always been cartoony.

leemass241524d ago (Edited 1524d ago )

as oppose to having a bland grey, brown with abit of green in it, yeah you can keep your bland coloured games meanwhile ill be enjoying the coloured bright world that will still look good in 5 years+

Metallox1524d ago (Edited 1524d ago )

The tech demo was never part of the development of this Zelda game, so my statement of graphics having been like this since the very beggining it's correct.

Take that, Final Fantasy XIII cactus!

NexGen1524d ago

Trust me, my cactuar has nothing to do with the steaming dogpile ff xiii. Lol.

Kos-Mos1524d ago

It`s called art. And no other video-game company is able to create something like this. Nintendo is in a league og their own.
I`m sorry to give you this fact, but cod is for kids.

GarrusVakarian1524d ago (Edited 1524d ago )

" And no other video-game company is able to create something like this. "

Journey.

Art is subjective, btw. I can play any game, no matter how generic, and find something in it that i would consider art. Hell, games themselves are art imo. Everyone of them.

Kos-Mos1524d ago

@Lukas_Japonicus

Journey?
You are comparing a two hour "video game" with Zelda? A "game" without challenge?

Please try for a couple of years to understand the art, the flow, the depth, the mechanics and purity of Zelda and I`ll give you another chance to comment.

In the meanwhile you`re ignored.

Not-A-Cat1524d ago

@Kos-Mos

You talked about art no gameplay, the new Zelda will be awesome but it isn't the only game with beautiful art out there.

Kos-Mos1524d ago (Edited 1524d ago )

@Not-A-Cat

Of course there is! Demons`s Soul`s for example, but Nintendo is in a league of their own like I stated.
I`m sure people that have at least 20 years of experience with a vast amount video games agree with me.
That doesn`t change the fact that there are of course different taste, but you can always find the most polished (on all aspects) games if you dare to lay aside fanboysim.
It`s just like movies, your taste or not, the movie is polished and is bloody well made.

Realplaya1524d ago

Lukas_Japonicus Journey can't compare to Wind waker HD and Wind Waker HD can't compare to this.
