Aonuma wants to let people play Zelda Wii U at next year's E3

NE: "Yesterday, we posted a Miiverse message from Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma, who spoke briefly about the upcoming entry in the series for Wii U. Strangely, the original Japanese note included an extra tidbit not included in the English translation. " (Eiji Aonuma, The Legend of Zelda, Wii U)

uhh which basically confirms LATER THAN JUNE 2015 Release Date.

* When they said 2015, I don't think many of us thought FALL 2015. .....for a lot of these games.

i knew this game is coming out in the fall, why in the world would they release their biggest game of the year any time else. until fall you will probably get yarn yoshi, kirby, and x before zelda.
LOL_WUT  +   346d ago
I guess late 2015 would be a great time to get a WiiU for those who are still planning to get one just for this title. ;)
3-4-5  +   346d ago
Yea I get that, but By releasing in May or March it could be THE game to have and not have any competition during that time.
Activemessiah  +   346d ago
ugh! another year... I'll be grey by the time I get my hands on this.
NexGen  +   346d ago
I am grey now...been waiting for kh3, last guardian, and ffxv. One year isn't that bad lol.
Neonridr  +   346d ago
which means that the game won't release until Fall of 2015 at the earliest.. sigh.
Locksus  +   346d ago
I'm quite sure the trailer said 2014, but a delay wouldn't be impossible.
BattleReach  +   346d ago
It said 2015.
The game hasn't even got a title.
jonboi24  +   346d ago
Can't see a 2014 release happening. If that were true it be playable this year.
Locksus  +   346d ago
Oh yeah, I meant to type 2015. My fault.
Fixay  +   346d ago
At least it's been confirmed and on its way I suppose.

Lets be fair though a lot of what was shown at this years E3 from all conferences were 2015 releases, which sucks but I guess 2015 is going to be one hell of a year to be a gamer!

Can't wait !
Neonridr  +   346d ago
no doubt, but I am a diehard Zelda fan, so having to wait until say February would be one thing, September would be completely different..

the agony!!!

The game just looked simply breathtaking.
ricochetmg  +   346d ago
It is Zelda so winter 2015.
chrissx  +   346d ago
Zelda wiiu Late 2015 or sometime 2016 confirmed :(
LOL_WUT  +   346d ago
I remember folks here saying Nintendo never shows off games that aren't close to release... Nintendo most likely tried to save face by showing Zelda prematurely. ;)

Prematurely? At worst it's a year away from completion, as is Star Fox. Your comments are so sensationalized, you make Kotaku look decent.
bahabeast  +   346d ago
damn. this game needs to be out before next years E3. or maybe it should have already been out.
user9597082  +   346d ago
I'll eat my hat if this game actually releases in 2015.
I remember the ink on my preorder slip for Twilight Princess had completely faded away by the time that game actually released and it looked to be much further along when they announced it
KonsoruMasuta  +   346d ago
You better keep your word.
user9597082  +   346d ago
I always keep delicious hats on standby
g4n  +   346d ago
Do THATS what they did to link?!

That's NOT what was advertised when I got the Wii U! I want my money back. What is WRONG with these people!?
deafdani  +   346d ago
I assume you mean the Zelda 2011 tech demo?

Which was a TECH DEMO?

Nintendo never said that was the actual Zelda game for the Wii U anywhere, ever.

So, if you bought a Wii U because you thought that tech demo was the real thing... sorry, I don't think they will give your money back just because you fooled yourself.
EliteGameKnight  +   346d ago
They did the same thing on the gamecube if you remember. that tech demo was realistic, or as close as that gen got, and then they revealed Wind Waker. HUUUGE backlash from that, its regarded as one of the better Zelda now though. We'll have to see with this new game
barb_wire  +   346d ago
That late? man, it won't be out until 2016 then.

Nintendo, you disappoint.
deafdani  +   346d ago
Or in the latter half of 2015.

Which is still a long time away.

Most of E3's notable announcements were scheduled for 2015, actually. Which makes me sad. I wish game companies stopped announcing stuff so early, and refrained themselves to only showing us things that will release in the immediate future. Say, the next 6-7 months or so.
Dunban67  +   346d ago
That is the primary issue I have w thier e3 ( in addition to no press conf and Iwata not attending) this year are the release dates or lack of them - It all started after launch delays ..... Just wait till 2 nd half 2013 which became wait for holiday 2013 which became wait for spring 2014 .... Now they are just going straight till " wait for 2015..... And we already know that will be holiday 2025 at best - so they will continue to dribble a few games out here and there w a 1 st party AAA title coming 2-4 times a year

The problem is that does not sell Wii u s today - if you are not a multi console household then you not only have to wait a lot for games, you better hope you love every one of them which is not often the case - the Wii u has become primarily a Nintendo, 2d platformer console with a big emphasis on Mario

Does anyone think they may have started over on this Zelda sometime after they 1st announced it - they said it was ready to show at LAST years e3 - kind of hard to believe
deafdani  +   346d ago
Nice try to twist my words, but no. When I said "scheduled for 2015", I meant ALL game publishers, not only Nintendo. Why are you singling Nintendo out on this, when most of the biggest game releases from everyone - Sony and Microsoft included - have been pushed back to 2015 as well?

This is something that irks me not only about Nintendo, but the videogame industry as a whole. Everyone tends to reveal their games waaaaaay too early, in my opinion, making all of us play a pretty long waiting game.
DC777  +   346d ago
Yeah it's a b.s. disappointment just like X, and the rest of the games they said were coming a long time ago.

You can sugar coat it all you want with E3 hype over...well pretty much nothing but some stupid kid ink game, but the truth is we got the shaft again.

They should start firing some of these guys at Nintendo, they're getting too old, slow and out of touch.

Companies will be preping next gen console kits by the time we ever see a Zelda, Metroid and 3rd person Mario game at this rate.
LightofDarkness  +   346d ago
I have a feeling this game is not going to make it out even in 2015. This is clearly the most ambitious project Nintendo and the Aonuma's team have taken on yet and I'm not sure if they've truly estimated the enormity of a truly open world, modern and non-linear game, and the development headaches they can cause. I expect they will show gameplay next year, but I also suspect they will announce a delay. From what they've shown they have pretty much only reached the stage of development prototyping, so they have an engine, a concept and a basic look that they want to achieve. Filling a large open world with worthwhile content can take a very, very long time.

That said, I really love the sound of this game. This could be the first Zelda in a long while that has allowed you tackle it in any order you wish, probably since the original game. I'm quite liking the art-style, although I must admit I would have preferred something along the lines of the last 2 Mario games (Kart 8 and 3D World).

just because they didn't show very much doesn't mean that the title couldn't be farther along though. Perhaps they just don't want to spoil the big reveal.

It is definitely ambitious, but you can bet your bottom dollar Nintendo will do whatever it takes to make sure this game releases by the end of 2015. Even if that means bringing other studios on board to help with production.
DEATHxTHExKIDx  +   346d ago
probably Winter 2015 I'm betting
King_of_Nothing  +   346d ago
Wii U needs this game sooner than fall 2015
Summons75  +   346d ago
They already said it was coming in 2015... If you didn't think for a second it was going to be their big holiday title then you must have missed the fact this is Nintendo's biggest and most anticipated franchise. Seriously how is anyone surprised that it will be at next years E3?
DC777  +   346d ago
Because they said that last year about THIS E3.
Summons75  +   346d ago
No they said it wasn't read and wanted to shop SOMETHING when they revealed it. They showed what the game will look like, they never promised gameplay.
CouldHaveYelledUiiW  +   346d ago
This is typical.
Like every other Zelda since WW.

1st E3 the Demo

2nd E3 the Artstyle.
Between 2nd and 3rd Vague information releases before.

3rd E3 Full-reveal and Hands-on.
Ck1x  +   346d ago
Not true ALBW released the same year it was announced!
CouldHaveYelledUiiW  +   346d ago
You are right,
But I was referring to the Console Zelda's.
Ck1x  +   346d ago
So here's what I really want to discuss. Aonuma stated this was running on WiiU, which I'm not caring about the details, because the game will look just like they showed or even better. What impressed me was the destructible environments and how everything was effected by the fighting going on. The grass burning, bridge breaking animals fleeing from the scene. This will be the most imaginative and living Nintendo title ever created!
MNGamer-N  +   346d ago
Good gives me time to save some money up and work on my backlog. I will wait patiently.
marloc_x  +   346d ago
I know right? Exploring Wind Waker right now and I do mix it up often. Had so much more gaming time in another life, Ha! PLENTY to play:)
