DDR4 is the next big thing in RAM medules, but what exactly is it? Learn more about it now!
Agreed, once it's out I'd really like to see some benchmarks
If they end up running those numbers, imagine draw distances with those babies... I should had never got in PC gaming its an endless struggle to have more and more... Back to Tomb Raider-ps4 for now (damn it was worth skipping last gen!)
Ram isn't about draw distances..it's about having a lot of animations and textures loaded into memory that don't repeat. GPU determines draw distances.
I can't wait for next gen which they implement this:)
Can't wait to have to upgrade to DDR4!
DDR3 has been out since 2007............
I meant - I can't wait to fork out the money for new RAM. It was sarcasm... Sorry for the confusion.
I don't think anyone missed the sarcasm. He's just pointing out to you that DDR3 is old and progress is overdue. You don't have to fork out money if you don't want to, your ddr3 is not going to get any worse.
Lol who disagrees with a fact?
DDR 4'is still ways off.
Depends on how long you consider to be far. I think we will see machines with it in Early 2015.
Incorrect. Intel is releasing the i7-5930K (6-core 12-thread) Haswell-E and i7-5960X (8-core 16-thread) in just a couple months in Q3 2014. A few of the new X99 boards were shown off at Computex in Taipei this last week. http://wccftech.com/evga-x9...
Thats exactly right my friend
Likely hitting desktops mid 2015 with Skylake, hope to see GDDR6 around then too, maybe sooner, GTX 880!?
No. Try Q3 2014. http://wccftech.com/evga-x9...
DDR4 is slated for a public market release in 2015 for consumers. Everything in 2014 seems be just for companies, servers and maybe enthusiasts. We will see.
Memory has so little affect on gaming performance this isn't really exciting. Maybe if we hear dnew about video memory, then it get exciting. Like Volta that has stacked Vram and increase memory bandiwnth by 4-5 fold.
It does on chipsets that use integrated graphics which is 65% of computers.
I could see DDR4 being a great benefit to AMD APU in the market. As you know APU uses system memory as the VRAM for gaming.
Nope that is not true actually, without improvement (innovation too) of RAM memory PC gaming (or anything on PC actually) would be way more complicated and had poor performance overall.
Yeah but right now you take a basic 1333mhz memory stick vs a 2600 one and there isn't even 7% difference. Beside APU, but who really game on apu.
I'm still using DDR2 ram on my desktop computer, lul
My gaming rig is still DDR2 and can run Watch_Dogs lol.
can some one explain why there is ddr3 and ddr5 but just now getting 4? why skip a number
Think you are getting gddr and ddr mixed up mate gddr is for graphics. Don't quote me on that I tend to be Dimm witted lol sorry Ram joke.
there is nothing out there like ddr5 is gddr5 and is used in video cards.
cant wait for a rebuild. been rocking the same PC since 2008. run all games with no problems. that's right you uneducated people who think you need to upgrade every year :)
the price will be... well how shall i put it... like ps3 launch :)
Great article, this is info everyone should know!
