GameCube Inspired Controller For Wii U Seeks Funding

WaveDash LLC today launched a new Kickstarter campaign for a GameCube-inspired controller for the Wii U.

Billed as a wireless Wii U controller “with a retro look”, the team hope to raise $339,000 over the next 34 days in order to make the controller a reality. Obviously due to copyright, the controller isn’t an exact replica of the one which released alongside the GameCube and has replaced the original c-stick with a regular full-sized analogue stick for better comfort and control.

Since the Wii U Gamecube controller adapter is a thing, isn't this kinda pointless?

theRell1359d ago

Was thinking the same exact thing. Also the controller they have coming with PDP.

I love N4G, downvote me please.

But why? I like upvotes. They're more positive.

No unless Nintendo decides to make more GC controllers which is possible since they did make the adapter.

An extra Z trigger is all it needs, what's wrong with that?

if we're being honest this is what the wiiU pro controller should have been...but i also understand why its not

...But... PDP and Nintendo are reissuing the Gamecube controller for Smash.

What's... *sigh* Goddammit Kickstarter.

The GC controller sucked. What's next, we fund the n64 controller?

KonsoruMasuta1359d ago (Edited 1359d ago )

The Gamecube controller is one of the best controllers I ever had the pleasure of holding. Unlike most controllers, it was made to be held by human hands.

This is what the pro controller should have been.

Interessting how different opinions can be. I for one didn't like the GC controller at all. Mainly because I didn't like the shape of the controller. The spots where the D-Pad and the C-Stick are, were kind of in the way for a natural hand position for me. The D-Pad itself is too small. The shoulder buttons felt really weird. And I never understood why it has 2 shoulder buttons on one side and only one on the other? I also didn't like the fact, that the sticks were placed in an octagon instead or a circle. That made it really hard to make precise inputs with it.

I'm not a fan of Nintendo controllers in general. The last Nintendo controller I liked was the SNES Controller.

The GC controller looked wacky but it was very comfortable to hold and it functioned well.

king_george1359d ago

Are you crazy? Lol the gamecube controller is top 3 at the very least

brich2331359d ago

I dont think it sucked, I do think it was missing buttons though, like the clickable analog sticks and the L1/RB button, and the select/back buttons that Xbox and Playstation have.

cpayne931358d ago

Wasn't really good for shooters, but it was otherwise the most comfortable controller I've ever used.

I already have the GC controller and in storage somewhere and the incoming adapter and also reissuing of the GC from Nintendo make this kickstarter kind of pointless.
