"What makes GRID games stand out is that they are games about racing. Not driving simulators, but games."
Yet the Codies skipped on next gen racing this year...I'm afraid by the time Drive Club, Project Cars & Forza Horizon 2 land.... Grid Auto Sport will have a long hill to climb ;/
Yeah I agree, the thing that will stand out the most is the fact it won't be on current gen consoles!
It's can still make a comeback!
Yep, its a steep one...moving their release away from the real next gen racers was a wise move CodeM...
Kinda hard to stand out while your stuck on last gen while all the names listed are on next gen. Even if spectacular showcase. Many will overlook it. I have some interest in Grid series. Hope it does well enough to survive either way.
I know how it stands out, it won't be on next gen unlike Project CARS or DriveClub.
Next gen doesn't start for another 6-7 years. I don't want to wait that long and i doubt many others do either.
I have lost faith in Codemaster's ever since they completely ruined the Colin McRae series aka Dirt. God that game went awful in the end, bring back the hardcore rally game's.
seriously codemasters, haud yer weesht!
Simple!just make the gameplay and physics identical to the original with just adding 1080p and 60fps and it will be a killer👍
First, I don't understand why people keep comparing sim racers to CodeMasters' games. They never said their games were sim, they know they aren't and are happy that way. It's all over the forums, "Well, Assetto Corsa does [this]" and "Project Cars does [that], why can't GRID do it?". They are totally different beasts; apples and oranges, if you will, and designed from the ground up to be simulation racers (by the way, gamers like to ignore what simulation means to each developer. I know this because every time the sim doesn't have a feature they think should be in it, then "it's not a sim"), not 'simcade' like CM want their games to be. Secondly, what's wrong with being on 'last gen'? There are some pretty goods odds that people haven't just tossed their old console out the window the moment the new ones came out. I think people are just upset that DID buy the new gen but the games they want are still on last gen. Also, from what I understand, there were still developers making new games for the Playstation 2 up until recently, so it can't be that bad a thing. A lot of the current gen, indie titles use engines that could be run by most modern web browsers, yet we praise them for being 'current gen' because they were able to port the game to one of the new consoles. If CM put GA on current gen, all people would do is complain (as if anything would stop them regardless) that it doesn't have features 'that define the next gen experience'. Here CodeMasters is trying to keep the last gen (and PC) people happy and perhaps make up for 'mistakes' in GRID 2 and all you can do is complain because you're an early adopter.
How Grid will stand out? Easy! "We are on BOTH last gen consoles and with upgraded textures on PC!" That's their "advantage" :)
I think racing fans....that niche demographic are one of the demographics that focus on hardware performance & graphics most. Thats why current gen is shaking its collective head at Codies. Racing fans likely are part of the early adopters...shunning them because your lazy/small team/greedy (its cheaper to use old engine with tweaks for last gen than it is to tool for current ps4/xbone)...makes no sense if your looking to carry your racing only dev company forward.
