Given the history of video game based movies I can only cringe at what my imagination cooks up for this one. This could be a costly mistake for Sony. I'm a fan of the franchise though, so best wishes for a great final product!

Don't underestimate the power of nerds and Metal gear fanboys

This movie being new will garner loads of people. It is when you start making sequels that its dies down

Eonjay1292d ago

You know if they took all the cutscenes for the game, they could make 5 movies without lifting a finger.

kneon1292d ago (Edited 1292d ago )

It likely won't cost them much because based on their past track record it will probably never get off the ground.

I don't understand how a company that owns so many movie and TV studios can't seem to get a video game based movie made. We hear them talk about it but then they never seem to happen.

yeah but Ratchet and Clank and Heavenly sword is happening though. I remember God of war and uncharted supposedly would get movie adaptions but we havent seen even a teaser.

Elsewhere Gears of war, Halo and World of warcraft were getting movies too but they vanished as well or so it seems to me atleast.

Dunno how some games just out of the blue gets movie adaptions like Doom for instance.

Anyhow... Im sort of pumped for the R&C movie, but there havent been much info after the initial trailer which came like sometime last year hinting at a release in 2015 if I remember correctly.

I enjoyed the first MK movie and the first Silent Hill. Outside of those its a crap shoot. From what I've read Kojima will be heavily involved, just like Neil with TLOU movie. So, if those movies bomb, its a worse blow then normal. If the game directors cant transition their own material to the silver screen, maybe it can never be successfully done.

Mortal Kombat
Resident Evil (the CG films)
Street Fighter Assassin's Fist

Those are pretty good films from games. XXXD

It's either going to be very good or very bad but i trust them to do a good job of it.

I was really hoping David Hayter would direct/write the film, but I imagine he's staying away from Metal Gear forever. :/

Clover9041292d ago

He's an unproven director. Why would you want him to direct?

-Foxtrot1292d ago (Edited 1292d ago )

No offence but the guy they want to direct hasn't really made anything memorable or anything which makes you think he could pull it off.

WeAreLegion1292d ago

He wrote X-Men 1 and 2 and has worked on various projects in Hollywood for years. I trust him.

Clover9041292d ago (Edited 1292d ago )

@Foxtrot why would I be offended? I didn't say that the potential movie director was better than Hayter. All I said is that Hayter AS A DIRECTOR is unproven. As a fan of the series I'd like a director with a proven body of work. Having said that, I'm well aware that a fresh director could prove to be a blessing. Distinct 9 was Blomkamps's first film, and it's brilliant. Josh Tranks first film, Chronicle, is stellar. I just want a great film for this great franchise. I was just calling out WeAreLegion's obvious fanboyism.

WeAreLegion1292d ago (Edited 1292d ago )

Fanboyism about what, exactly?

Josh Trank was just picked up for a standalone Star Wars film, if you didn't see. I'm so excited about that! Chronicle was amazing. It's a shame he'll probably never make the Shadow of the Colossus movie at this point though.

They should make CGI instead of making it live action just like Capcom did to Resident Evil Degeneration.
