Murdered: Soul Suspect | IGN review

Murdered: Soul Suspect has a lot of great ideas, but none of them come together in a satisfying way. (Murdered: Soul Suspect, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One) 5.5/10

It's starting to seem most games are doing horrible lately other than Mario Kart 8 of coarse.
admiralvic  +   58d ago
Either we define "horrible" differently or you need to open your eyes more...

As it currently stands, Murdered: Soul Suspect has an 8.0 ratio on N4G with enough high reviews waiting to be approved to keep the game at or around a 7+/10. Watch Dogs has a metacritc average of 80 or 81 and Wolfenstein is at about 80 or 81 too. This pretty much covers all the big releases in May and even then a fair number of digital / smaller games scored fine (Transistor - 83, Kirby - 80, Mario Golf - 79, Soul Sacrifice Delta - 82).

People still blindly follow reviews and metascores.

What a pity.

They're the first to bitch and moan about how this generation is bad, filled with overrated games... Yet they proceed to disregard any game that averages 70 or less in Metacritic.

I don't care what reviews say at all, so Im not "blindly following" them when I say this - Wolfenstein and Watch Dogs is awesome. It seems the good games are finally coming.

Yet another IGNorant review from IGN.

Game got plenty of 8's from reviewers who knew they were playing an adventure game.
Neonridr  +   57d ago
Murdered on PS4 is currently holding a 59 on metacritic (61 on XB1). Now obviously Metacritic isn't the be-all-end-all, but that kind of average sort of gives you an indication..
NewMonday  +   57d ago
@Neonridr

You know Metacritic is not an average, the site has hidden values that give sites multiplers over other sites, a score from IGN would equal 4-5 times the score from another site, meaning it would be like 4 sites giving a 5.5 instead of just the single 5.5

This is why publishers care what score IGN give and shower them with adds preferential coverage like "IGN firsts", they can hit the metric hard.

Square Enix, what are You doing?!

I'm still interested. Reminds me of Heavy Rain, Alan Wake, and Ghost Trick all rolled into one. The dev seemed cool in the interview I saw and I like to support original games from good devs. Otherwise they all go bankrupt. Il def watch some gameplay but it looks right up my alley.
Volkama  +   58d ago
I liked Heavy Rain a lot
I didn't like Alan Wake
I have never heard of Ghost Trick.

Hmmmm what to do....
I_am_Batman  +   57d ago
Get Ghost Trick asap.
NewMonday  +   57d ago
It's available on iPhone

I've been waiting for this game for a while, I think it looks awesome, definitely agree with your comment on looking like a mixture between those games, never played Ghost Trick but Heavy Rain and Alan Wake were great games. Luckily I'll have it soon as GameFly finally sent me a new release title.
Now that they have it 5.5 i'm even more interested. Might as well be something good

You should check out Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2. It's so bad that IGN didn't even bother to give it a review, so you should be extremely interested in the game.
I played it , it was meh...

I don't see reviews like a big deal , as it's one,two persons opinion about game , i judge my games myself

Goddamnit. :/

Oh well... I will still keep my eye on it, cause there have been a few badly rated games that i've enjoyed. thanks.

Never heard of it another for the cheap sales I guess.

call of duty advanced warfare 9/10- IGN
Inception  +   58d ago
Lol so true. IGN always put very high and unrealistic expectation with new IP's. But when comes to CoD, they didn't have this unrealistic expectation and the game still score 9/10. Sadly a lot of people still blindly follow their reviews...
Bennibop  +   58d ago
I agree IGN expects every new IP to redefine a genre and I think game review have suffered. The bemoaned the dual wielding in Wolfenstein as not being accurate!! (its not meant to be as choosing power over it.) I think there have been expectations of games like Dead rising and Infamous that have been ridiculous and again the reviews were lower than they should have been.
urwifeminder  +   58d ago
This may actually be good I tend to go for the lower scoring games.
AnEwGuY  +   58d ago
Well you should love 'Ride to Hell: Retribution' then...
Neonridr  +   57d ago
lol.. or Day One: Garry's Incident
hellzsupernova  +   58d ago
It is a shame was very interested in this game. I did not even realise that it was releasing today though! was off the radar between wolfenstein and watch dogs
LightDiego  +   58d ago
I will try this game, but right now i'm playing a lot of games, i can't play more than three games at the same moment, the narratives can confuse me.
These days, i was looking for Petrified Dragon Bones...on GTA V.
heisenberguk  +   58d ago
That's what you call 'downgraded'!!
Ozmoses  +   58d ago
This game looks interesting. I got too many pre-orders and recent games in the pipelines to pick it up right away.

I'll keep an eye on it though. The idea behind the game is intriguing enough even if the gameplay isn't up to par.

Playing a bad video game shouldn't sway anyone.. I mean it could tug at your heart strings and be the most piece of shit game ever.. Who cares? As long as you dig it.

well.. at least the devs don't have to worry about walking through the wall errors.

Looks like someone did not buy advertisement space at IGN.
SpideySpeakz  +   57d ago
IGN is always willing to accept $$$ to increase that score by a few points.
Chapter11  +   57d ago
Looks like it suffers the same problem as LA Noire: its a mystery game that flat out tells you what/where the clues are. Shame.
Predaking77  +   57d ago
I will go to Playstation live, watch the game and decide.
chippychan  +   57d ago
I'm set on getting this one regardless of any scores. I had a great time with Heavy Rain, platinumed LA Noire and just played through Deadly Premonition again (also platinumed it). I need another mystery game and this looks like it'll scratch that itch.
