Nintendo has released a major system update for Wii U, bringing the firmware version up to 5.0.0.
Sweet, downloading now.
I got the new Wii U Mario and Luige bundle should arrive tomorrow, hope it doesn't take too long to download.
You'll have several updates. so yes, it will take time. Good for you on taking the 32Gb model.
wont take long, everything download quick for me, mario kart took 30 mins and that game is bigger then both of those games together, so you should be fine, and mind you I am using Wifi no direct connection.....
Shouldn't take too long. And first thing u should do is set up your gamepad as the remote to your tv. Its super handy to not have to shuffle around multiple remotes especially when switching to off tv play. Not to mention those times when u lose the remote to the tv.no longer a problem. I actually prefer the gamepad over the actual remote. It does everything except record on my cable box which actually I'm not totally positive it may do that as well.
I love the big U on that bundle!!! Kinda' reminds me of somebody I know or wish I did lol!!!!!
Its a great update.
Awesome! I feel very fortunate to be able to get a Wii U at this point in time. I'm so excited! :D
This is actually really good since I'll be opening MK8 so much.
What STANDBY features are available? I have everything enabled, but the update didn't download automatically. Also, the LED on the console is red when powered down. Is it supposed to be like that or is it supposed to turn orange like the Wii? Note: I recently got my Wii U, and the user manual is not very clear on that. Same for notifications. Wii U Gamepad Home button never lights up.
Read the manual! If its power down then its red!Go to the menu screen on the Wii U gamepad and scrooll it every feature is explain on the settings options.
You have to enable it.
The Wii U can go into standby mode when downloading games, installing patches, and otherwise.
it will stay red when its off, but sometimes you might see it turn yellow on its own which is when its updating something or you getting a mail from Nintendo or etc....
it wont work right away. You have to use some things on the systems for a bit and let it sit on standby. Then, even if the light is red, it will bring up the quick start menu on the gamepad and you can select where you want to go. It is pretty darn zippy. About 30 seconds from power down to being able to play MK8.
hmhmmmm with the Jrpgs and now Mario cart I just may have to get this console.
Lol!!!!!!!! Just wait a week!!!!!!!!!!
Downloading right now hmm
How about that Tivo support you promised, Nintendo?
An unexpected, but welcome surprise.
If only my Wii U would connect to the internet. Literally every other electronic device can connect to my wifi EXCEPT for it. Even the original Wii. :-/
Your console must be broken or something. Try to contact Nintendo if you can.
Make a port forward.
Baybe your modem/router blocks your wiiu.
are you uk? know bt is a pain to connect too...
@joshw2011 - I hate wifi connections, everything to me has to be wired. You can use the Wii LAN USB adapter on the Wii U and it works perfectly. No issues here. Just another option if your wifi isn't working.
I've heard of the selling for like six bucks!!! Definitely worth it to me.
The new start up menu is sexy! Much more modern.
updating now cant wait! should be dope!
Yeah woke up in the middle of the night to some new blue light coming from the gamepad. Apparently you can get alerts with lights and sounds just on the gamepad now. Didn't even know there were lights in there. Quick start comes up mighty fast, and you can enable/disable it all. Pretty sweet for all these changes to be sent in an update.
So five different iterations of the OS and we still don't have folders?
What seems to be the conclusion from this update? How does the quick start work? People liking it? I haven't had a chance to update my Wii U yet. Just got my copy of MK8 last night (stupid Purolator left a slip at my door on Friday), so I haven't had a chance to boot it up.
