In case there was any doubt in your mind, we have proof positive it was just a simulation of gameplay and not the genuine article.
I tend to think of articles like this as "buzz kill articles". Let's just be excited there is a brand new Mortal Kombat game when MK9 was so good
I liked the online in MK reboot better than Injustice online, especially the KOTH, so I'm hoping it makes a return in this one the way it was in MK. And hopefully they bring back 2v2.
well, pointing out that it's CG doesn't mean we're not excited. It's just that a lot of people didn't realize this and it's better to point it out right away to avoid misunderstandings
Don't you mean "Sub-Zero" gameplay?
Injustice was so broken when it came out. Par for the course with new fighting games though. It's come a ways since then. The AI is still garbage though. Mk9 is still a better game technically, but the sequel should show lots of improvements. Can't wait to see what MK10 will look like on next gen. "Injustice Too"...
Yeah that is a buzz kill. Honestly it looked in game models and everything with maybe unique camera angles that wouldnt be in the game. For CGI then I'd say it looks pretty poor, because the current gen systems could definitely do those graphics. Compromised because of last generation sounds like.
Confirming that a trailer is CGI is being a "buzz kill"? Maybe you need to...um, kill YOUR buzz because you're drunk. Nailed it.
Well dah... OT: I couldn't be happier if they released it exactly like that! No HUD no nothing just you, your opponent and the level nothing else distracting.! Maybe a very faint health bar and timer that only appear when you get hit or when the time comes down to, maybe 30 secs, that's it! no fancy hit FX and shit just that brutal hit collision effect we've seen here! Man that would be really, really good!
That's a no-brainer.
Exactly. And to the author of this article, I refer you to the image provided in the link: https://img.4plebs.org/boar...
"obviously" yes , but not because of the graphics. After seeing The order 1886 , Ryse , The Division...These types of graphics don't seem impossible to achieve. No , it was "obvious", because it's another cross-gen title. (i.e. , another watch dogs fiasco)
No shit OT Who couldn't tell it was a movie/teaser?
I think a lot of people thought it was using the game engine. Just because it has flashy camera angles and things you wouldn't find in a game, doesn't mean it isn't rendered using the engine. Either way I'm sure the next-gen MK will look great.
Implying that it won't look as good as this? Well i'm not buying then. Besides, how is it 'obvious'? Those little parts look like the usual camera that Mortal Kombat has.
How anyone could think this was gameplay is beyond me, but I did see a lot of people who thought it was in-game footage. But the real game could look close to that, with the exception of the animation which cannot possibly look this seamless in a real game. The camera, too, will not zoom-in on the cool parts like it did in the trailer, because that would prevent the players from seeing what's actually going on. As soon as they start fighting and the trailer starts mimmicking an actual mortal kombat fight, you can tell right away that those are not animations that are usable in a game context. Especially the way they are blocking attacks
To be fair for a few phases it does adopt the viewpoint of a usual MK fight and the camera . The rest is wishful thinking and dashed hopes for a few
Wishful thinking my ass. I hope The Order, UC4, and Quantum Break raises the standards for the entire industry in terms of visuals. This gen is about blurring the lines between gameplay and CGI. I understand that in 2014 devs still havent had enough time with these consoles, but as of 2015, there are no more excuses. I'm not buying any cross gen b.s. I'm not supporting any dev that doesn't devote all their resources into next-gen consoles/PCs. By doing so, your supporting stagnation.
I'm not saying it's even impossible to achieve . But i sure wasnt expecting it from NetherRealms ., i dont have that kind of faith in them . A big clue was how smooth the animation was compared to the stiff usual MK style ... a dead giveaway to CGI
@logicwin not enough owners to justify just focusing on next gen bro
@baka thats funny I thought it had the trademark mk stiff choreography. They need to stop mocapping random people and get some fighters with good form. I knew it wasn't gameplay but it did show a few things that will be in the game like xray moves and environment weapons. I liked it but im a scorpion fan.
Nah ingame stuff is usually even more stiff . The hitboxes seemed to weird to for it to be ingame too
Sadly there's many youtube comments written by wishful thinking children who want to believe things they know deep down are not true. Taking this as a fact and spreading it out around to everybody creating false information. That's why this article exists
Sure. But... A small part of me was hoping that its at least representing game play elements. The environmental weapons, interaction, area specific fatalities, new x ray mode, super moves you can "charge" Ala street fighter... Oh. And that slow mo effect outside of x ray mode would be sweet. 9 was so good... They could just tweak it a bit for next gen. Add new characters. And I'd still buy it day 1.
Not gonna lie I thought next-generation fighting games was here lol... oh well.
Fighting games barely changed from PS2->PS3. I knew this was too good to be true.
Dammit I thought that was actual Ps4 footage tho, game would be nice if it could match that cgi tho!
So what you are saying is we should take this gameplay with a grain of salt... To the eye!!! Bwahaha I'm evil! "Finish him!" *rips random guy in half* "Get over here!" *signals buddies over with ripped in half random guy corpse.* "Fatality!" *uses random guy's half bod as a makeshift double dutch jump rope with buddies* ...........:/ wut did I just type
Gameplay no but in-game engine yes.
"in-game engine yes"... care to elaborate on how you know this?
There is no way it's the in game engine with that kind of animation
I don't think anyone was debating whether the trailer was CGI or in game footage. The distinction is obvious.
A kick ass cinematic.
