Crytek's Homefront: The Revolution launching next year with full day/night cycle, dynamic weather system, and online co-op mode.
What no competitive MP??:(
I hope the story in this game can be equal with Bioshock 1/Infinite.. considering theres no MP in this game. But again, it's Crytek haha.. I'll keep my expectation low
Crytek = gorgeous game, short story
It's not Crytek Frankfurt who will be developing Homefront 2.(they created Crysis, Far Cry and Ryse) It's Crytek UK. They will be developing the game. They were formerly known as Free Radical Design. Known for their Timesplitters franchise. Crytek saved it from bankrupcy. As Crytek UK they made multiplayer for Crysis 2 and 3. And are working on the upcoming Homefront 2. Well, lets hope their skills didn't get too rusty. The multiplayer of Crysis 2/3 was pretty much a clone of COD.
Hm, this article says Homefront 2 supposedly takes place in philadelphia. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Americans keep the Koreans from crossing east of the Mississippi river? Seems odd they'd be able to occupy a major city on the east coast if the battle line was drawn at the Mississippi
Granted the first one had multiplayer so I understand your frustration, but why shoehorn a component like that if it doesn't fit in the overall vision of the game? We all remember last generation where games resources were being pulled to make half assed multiplayer components to supposedly appeal to the casual audiences. Obviously most of them couldn't even sustain a large player count, thus that sort of feature became worthless. We should be happy devs aren't making the same mistakes they did last gen.
Wow. Wow. Wow. Multiplayer in Homefront IMO was better than BF3's. Example: You know how people wait for their favorite vehicle to spawn in BF? You needed to work as infantry and earn the points before you could get a vehicle. So 32 players on a medium sized map and nearly every single person was participating. Very disappointed in this even though the campaign had plenty more potentional I would have rather had a linear one and an improved multiplayer.
Sucks for multiplayer fans. I only cared about the story though.
I agree, I don't really care about MP unless it's co-op. I hope more devs focus on making great campaigns this gen.
Open-world, or open-*area*, like games such as Crysis 2? I can't see it being open-world in the same sense as Fallout 3, for example.
I think open world in a Halo: ODST kind of way.
They seem to be focusing all on single player/co-op. The multiplayer for the original homefront was good but not amazing, was kinda a battlefield know-off mixed with some COD elements.
Perfect for me. I prefer co-op campaign over vs. Every shooter should have co-op IMO.
The more open-world games the better.
I'd choose a well-designed one over a huge-ass one (quality over quantity), but I guess I'm just the only one who's that retarded.
Last generation was the FPS era. Seems like this gen will be the open-world games era.
No complaints here.
I like them too. But I'm a little bit afraid about the future of linear games. They're great too.
@locomorales Yea its a little frightening but you have to think about from developers point of view. Games are getting more expensive to make, and gamers want a lot of replay value if they are shelling out $60. And open-world games are just a lot easier to sell due to its replay value being high. But i def agree with you, I really do enjoy my Bioshock, Alan Wake, The Last of Us story based kind of games.
I'm not sure if an open-world adds any replay value to a game. For me, most of those games are pretty repetitive and uninpired. But I can be wrong.
Ive replayed Fallout, Just Cause 2, GTA Series, Borderlands, Saints Row more than any other games. But then again that is person preference too. Bioshock is prob one of my fav series but Ive beaten Infinite once and have not picked it up since.
4 player CO-OP is fine by me. If the gameplay is good i'll buy it. CO-OP is fun with the right people.
Love me some co-op:)
Exactly, anything with good friends is better. Pretty much cuts the developers work in half to just include coop instead of a single player where critics can actually critique more.
That is the plus side to all of this. Nothing like a good functional coop. Hopefully it takes place in a free roam dynamic open world.
ive got my fingers crossed for Haze 2
yay another bland shooter made by crytek!
The Crysis games have fantastic gameplay and amazing graphics, they only lack in the narrative department, which hopefully they will be rectifying for Homefront.
I am tired of generic protagonists hopefully customizable appearance because there is not one unique feature of this character. I am not trying to say make him a different race or anything just come on that character lacks in all creative aspects. IMO if you cannot make an appealing character leave it the players to choose because games are recognized for customization or an awesome protagonist they can pick out of a crowd. I think this has potential because Home front had an interesting idea. I look forward to seeing more, IMO Crytek can make good gameplay mechanics they just lack strong story, universe, characters, and creativity. How many people have heard this from Crysis fans, "I look forward to seeing what happens in the next chapter of Alcatraz (?) story". The game lacks character and that is the major downfall IMO making it just another game. A game like Halo keeps you wanting to see more of the universe and what's happen to chief next, and a game like Crysis doesn't. They have potential they just need to make their games stand out in a way other than visuals and make interesting worlds and/or characters that make me want to keep playing.
I just hope Crytek delivers on the story then...if no MP. Co-op sounds great though, I'm starting to favor co-op over simple MP now...a lot of fun blasting your way through mobs with friends!
Yes next gen only ! And open world too ! OK awesome.
Do not care another Fps:/ I'm already sick of it, still Fps games, more games with 3rd person view give me!!:/
Homefront Revoultion!!!! (Horn sounds).
I'm probably in the minority but it bugs me when they list the consoles starting with Xbox one... It should always be alphabetical ex:PC, PS4,Xbox one... (I find GameSpot always does this)
Didnt homefront suck. Why didn't they just abadon that ip and create a new one.
Because Homefront's IP was the only thing worth anything.
homefront was great. i dont know where the hate came from.
hmm... Ironically the MP was the best part of the first Homefront so it not being their for the 2nd one is odd but it is a totally different dev. Lets hope they can deliver something compelling.
I'm assuming that the new craze is to make game games open world and coop, probably after seeing how people can't get enough of borderlands. However games need to be able to stand on their single player because multiplayer/coop isn't garuanteed to work forever or have a populous playerbase. (Yahtzee's way of reviewing)
Nice to see a newly focused SP games these days... sure did miss them.
Now that's what I call next gen visuals!
Yeah, that trailer showed off probably the best visuals I have ever seen in a game.
OMG open world again sigh let the fetch begin , will be only buying for multiplayer then hope its more like frontlines but I did enjoy the first game.
i feel this is going to be and play a lot like the saboteur, which is a great thing. instead of playing as the french resistance in nazi occupied europe, your the american resistance in occupied america. this is going to be sweet!
I was hoping for a multiplayer for this game. So disappoint.
Seems like everyone is going the route of teasing before E3 and making full in depth reveals at E3. Can't complain tho, as it seems to be doing what's its suppose to do... turn up the HYPE! I do hope for a few surprises at E3!
man this sucks no mp, they better wow me with the gameplay.
Open world? Oh, you mean like crysis 2? I won't believe them this time.
