Five Worst Game Launches

Kevin from Denkiphile: "I’m going to go ahead and assume that everyone reading this has already heard of the buggy, overhyped mess of a launch that Ubisoft’s Watch_Dogs just had. For anyone who has played games for the past, oh, I don’t know, three-four years, you’ll know that this is just the latest in a tradition developers seem to have of having terrible, terrible releases. Here are some of the worst." (Battlefield 4, Diablo III, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Final Fantasy XIV: Libra Eorzea, Industry, PC, SimCity, Total War: Rome II)

I'd add SOCOM 4 to that list. Wasn't the games fault but the PSN hack and being down for a month killed that game real fast.

Even though I completely despised SOCOM 4, at least it had a single player campaign to play. For SOCOM Confrontation's launch, it took like ten minutes to load a game (after the countdown), and then there was freezing and boots to deal with.

I still enjoyed Confrontation much more than Socom 4.

What was the hack?

Believe it or not Half-Life 2 should be on this list. Launch was a mess with broken authentication issues and graphical problems.

Uh, no GTA 5?
WeAreLegion  +   357d ago
No. It had a very successful launch. GTA Online didn't go live until a few weeks after the game released.

That's why i mentioned it. Battlefield 4 had a successful launch; it's story mode worked fine, but the multiplayer wasn't

Watch Dogs is meh to me so far, but overhyped? The fastest selling Ubisoft IP isnt overhyped. Thats hype confirmed.
user5669510  +   356d ago
i never knew watchdogs was hyped up. every time it was in the headlines it was always about resolution, frame rate, and gfx. devs and pubs hyping their game isnt the same as us hyping it up. if it was like that i wouldnt have enjoyed fable as much as i did, and we all know how they overhyped that game.

I found Final Fantasy ok at launch, queues weren't that bad although this maybe due to the server I was on since this is where all my friends were.

Simcity and BF4 was literally unplayable for me =/

But hey what a surprise this is EA

red orchestra 2- anybody who played that when released will tell you it should be on the list for multiple reasons.

1. crashed before even getting into a game.
2. once you were in a game the performance was terrible regardless to how powerful your computer was.
3. after everyone found out that the game was a giant turd they all stopped playing and left empty servers ,so for a multiplayer game it was unplayable till bots were introduced.
4. stats got wiped to make whiners happy about progress system

there more but i cant remember it or i just block it from my mind it was that bad.
