Former Sony Dev: The Order 1886 Looks ‘Absolutely Stunning’, Hopes They Add Co-op To A Sequel

"Much criticism has been heaped on the upcoming The Order 1886 which is under development at Ready At Dawn. To make matters worse the game got recently delayed till 2015 which is not necessarily a bad thing."

This game just screams for Co-Op like the original gears of war had. It could be that big a hit. I hope they put co-op in it now that they've been given more time.

On the flip side, if they're going no co-op I hope it's going to have RPG elements and make it a bit mass effect. There's already a squad of characters. Imagine a loyalty system like ME2 had!

There's just so much potential with this game I just hope they don't focus too much on the graphics.

I think just like with every other new IP on the PlayStation, Sony are not going to take the risk of MP.

They did the same with Uncharted and only added multiplayer after the original became a hit.

But yes, I agree with you. This game is tailor made for co-cop.

What risk do you associate with co-op play?

They are a small team. Normally for MP you need a big team.

Volkama1542d ago (Edited 1542d ago )

Got ya. I'm not sure you need a particularly big team for co-op as a campaign option, specially not if it's online play (so not the challenge of getting it running splitscreen) but it would definitely increase the workload a bit and perhaps require pulling in some new expertise.

The game does look ripe for it though.

See I see mp and coop as two separate beast. So while it's great it doesn't have mp it should have had, at least, co-op.

I don't get is this game not offering a Co-op mode? I had figured it wasn't offering a competitive MP mode but would be giving some kind of horde mode given its squad based nature.

A Single Player experience ? Awesome.

* Less people = less chance of somebody ruining your gameplay experience.

* This game would be cool with 2-4 players though, or the sequel would I guess.

Indeed, it looks excellent, best graphics so far on any console game, hope the delay work wonders for this game.
Can't wait to experience it.

Volkama1542d ago (Edited 1542d ago )

I keep seeing headlines that talk about criticisms of the recent Twitch feed of The Order, but I haven't seen or heard the actual criticisms of the game. Just people wanting a higher quality feed.

What about the game have people been moaning about?

caseh1542d ago

Probably the fact that its yet another high profile game that has been delayed for a year.

PS4 should not have been released until 2015 then maybe the likes of Drive Club, Deep Down and the Order could have been released in a reasonable time frame.

Biggest1542d ago

Why would the PS4 need to be delayed? Are you saying that the PS4 has no games, or just that the PS4 needs the delayed games to be viable?

caseh1542d ago (Edited 1542d ago )

It was flaunted with many titles, 90% of them have been delayed or have disappeared off the radar. hello, Planetside 2...come in Planetside 2, can you hear me?

The delayed games are the ones that turned heads, not Fifa or Injustice. They were likely asked by Sony to showcase what they had produced to date to build the hype. Realistically, the devs knew/know their expected delivery dates were optimistic AT BEST.

I've never known a console release to have so many games delayed, considering the PS4 is supposed to be far easier to code for over the PS3 I don't recall any big hitters being delayed on PS3. PS4 was rushed to market to prevent MS getting a headstart, that's the reality of it.

Yetter1542d ago

Everyone is always comparing this to Gears of War but if there isn't coop it isn't Gears

SoullessCorpse1542d ago

Co-Op mode would be a great addition to this game
