Risen fans, get ready for a treat. YouTube’s member ‘Gronkh’ has posted a video featuring 30 minutes of gameplay footage from Risen 3: Titan Lords.
Looks decent. More of what we've come to expect from Piranha Bytes these last few years but, for me personally, that's not a bad thing. Looks like they've done well with melding the tone of the original and Risen 2. Would have liked a bit more of the pirate theme, personally. Thought they handled that well in Risen 2. Then again, this is just a thirty minute taste of the product, spoken in a language I have no grasp of. At the end of the day, Piranha Bytes has never disappointed me and this one is certainly a highly anticipated for me.
I've never played Risen, are they any good?
From what I hear they're awful.
What I have played in older versions did not hold my interest very long. I am not encouraged to try again. But I love Western RPG's so I tend to accept some flaws.
the first one was good the second decent
I enjoyed them. The first is good, up until the last third. The game gets pretty bad at that point. I actually loved the second one. Though I seem to be in the minority there.
The Risen games were great, a gem in a sea of bad RPGs if you ask me. I loved the first one and liked the second one even more. The games have fantastic gameplay, story, and atmosphere compared to anything else on the market. Some people say the second one went wrong with the pirate theme, but to me they did it better than anyone else. Honestly I'm a little disappointed they're going away from it.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
Meine guete...der Dialog ist ja grauenhaft!
Is about 2/3 through Risen 2. Very pleased, a lot of pirate adventure, with a well scripted story, nice vistas and surprisingly good voice overs.. Recommendable!
I was fairly surprised with Risen 2. I never played the first one and I got the second cheap for PC. I played for quite a while but never finished it. I think it's worth picking up also.
One of the very few hardcore rpg games remaining. Hopefully this game can capture brilliance of gothic and first risen.
Wouldn't really call it "hardcore", "niche" is more like it. You really have to turn a blind eye to the very rough edges to enjoy these games.
But really the only reason there are "rough edges" is because the game does things differently than everything else in terms of gameplay and freedom. It's hard to have rough edges when you're just copying what's been done a thousand times with a new name, guiding the player through a safe little line.
graphics look lil better but i dont dig combat or style of rpg it is i prefer dragon age imho its to pirate themey risen series ac 4 did good job on my pirate fix this not so much got risen 2 on humble bundle and hate it
Never played any of the Risen games, Risen 2's trailer looked awesome, too bad I heard it was awful.
Risen 1 was really good, RIsen 2 tried the open world formula on the latter part and failed miserably. Still they are great RPGs, and together with the Gothic 1-3 series (same developer), they are some of the most underappreciated games around imho.
That voice isn't irritating. Not at all.
