More than any other game, Ocarina of Time knew what made Zelda great - and Zelda Wii U can learn from it.
People actually thinking this game is one of the best of all time is exactly why Nintendo is failing as bad as they are. So badly overrated. Tell me something.. If you believe Zelda to be so incredible and ur mega hyped over the new Wii u Zelda... Then what the heck are you going to say when you play WITCHER 3?
Well it's an opinion, and one many people share. You're entitled to yours just as much as anyone else is to theirs.
Yep, mayby he still didn't born yet just ignore the kid. Zelda ocarina of time was way ahead of his time when it was released. The best ever made.
haha good one...wait u are just joking right?
So instead of blaming nin for their own incompetence, we're going to slam one of the best games of all time? Wow, taking it to another level you nin fans. Nintendo is in trouble because they're stubborn and care more about japan while neglecting the rest of the global market- not because of the masterpiece known as Ocarina of Time.
How do they care more about Japan? All their games on Wii U thus far have been international release. Neglecting the rest of the global market? Wii U is available in the US, UK, Japan and Europe and all get the same games. Sounds like you need to lay off the haterade.
Yep... Keep disagreeing with me. Give into ur hate and fanboyism. By you enabling Nintendo, you are giving them the ability to fail more. You have no idea how happy ur making me to watch you as support a company that has their cruise control set on "fail".
*Your *You're *Shut up
Are you mentally ill? Your comments baffle me.
Zelda sells more than the Witcher so i don't quite understand how nintendo is failing in that aspect??
@gamings_last_legend Yep, I just disagree you ask for it. :)
I dont need to give in to my fanboyism or hate or any of that^^ Zelda is still better :)
...are you implying that the witcher is better than zelda? Oot is not my favorite zelda but its still a masterpiece.
I've only played The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of time and Twilight princess. Even though I wouldn't call myself a Zelda fan I have to say that the games I've played are very good. You can think they're overrated but that doesn't make your opinion a fact. Your opinion will only be respected by people when you start to respect theirs. They won't change their mind just because you insist that the game is overrated.
"Overrated"? Not quite. While I feel that since Ocarina's release, there have been SEVERAL games that are factually better than it (among them pretty much every Zelda game released since, in my opinion)... there are VERY few games that had such a big impact in the industry as Ocarina did. So, the title of "Best game of all time" that so many people give to it is more because of its impact on the game industry, and because there was truly nothing like it when it released. I haven't played any Witcher game, so I can't say anything about it. However, I would expect a new Witcher game to be better than a game that was released 17 years ago. As for the new Zelda for Wii U, we don't know anything about it to compare with Witcher or any other game, do we? So, uhm... what was exactly the point of your post, besides crapping on Nintendo for all the wrong reasons?
Zelda TOOT was a transitional game taking consoles from 2d to 3d. I think nostalgia puts a little better light in the game. It obviously would not be a 10 on today's consoles. However you have to look at what it did for the industry, ushering in a new era of action gaming. The game was a masterpiece, it did just about everything right for its time. Nintendo now has the opportunity to do that again. This will be the first time to bring Zelda into HD. No it won't be able to out do Zelda TOOT, but if done right, Nintendo could certainly make a deep and impressive game. To be honest, I am looking forward to a lot of PS4 games, but they could all wait if that was the price of getting a new Zelda IMO. Sorry, those games just have more meaning to me, perhaps because they don't take themselves too seriously.
Theres a reason why the Zelda series has been around for 27 years or so, and why you probably wont be seeing the witcher around that long. One game is legendary, the other is not.
There is no debate that it is one of the best games ever created. Especially if you played it when it first came out, it was amazing for its time and a huge influence on videogames. As for me, I havent owned a nintendo since 64. Back in those days games like mario 64 and OoT were not kiddy games. Back then games were considered more of a kid thing, but those games were pushing graphics and gameplay and were the best games that old people wanted to play as well. Im not hyped for the wiiu or new zelda because nintendo doesnt push boundaries like they used to. But there is no doubt that OoT is one of the best and most influential games ever.
The Order in which things occur in this game is,"appealing". Not sure how else I can explain it. It just feels right.
Ocarina of Time is considered the best because it EVOLVED the franchised. Since they were moving from 2D to 3D, they had to innovate and do things differently... they took a huge risk and it payed off. Nintendo hasn't taken a risk for Zelda franchise since then, and that's the reason why every 3D Zelda has had the same formula. That's the biggest problem. They can do SO MUCH with the franchise but they choose not to (and that's without having Link talk). They innovated with Super Mario Galaxy. They gave the game a new soundtrack using orchestra and had very original and clever worlds. It felt familiar, it was a much, much improved Super Mario 64. They need to the same or more for Zelda. I wish Nintendo decided to do something completely different, to renovate the franchise. They need to give the franchise a deep story and make Link a badass from the very start.
But considering how the last game was Super Mario 3D World I just doubt Nintendo will make the new Zelda anymore daring. 3D World is just sad to me when you consider how full of heart and originality Galaxy was. 3D World litterally feels like a handheld game on a home console or just NSMB in 3D.
To be quite frank The Witcher 2's strong point was the story. The gameplay and presentation is your typical RPG bugfest and the writing was overly long in the tooth. Being the 3.5x bigger The Witcher 3 doesn't bode well IMO but in the end it doesn't matter when I still like Zelda more. Bigger and lengthier is not the same as "better", not in every case. OoT has an impeccable atmosphere, wonder of discovery, good game design and a combat that feels like Dark Souls... in fact, I'd argue if Zelda should have any modern influence it should be looking up to Dark Souls which is ironically very Zelda inspired.
Zelda needs to be more like Demon/Dark souls! It would have to be more action(y) but the influence would make a lot of sense. Also, Zelda would benefit a lot of having an upgrading system (not like Skyward Sword, which was very basic and inefficient).
I take A Link To The Past & Majora's Mask over Ocarina of Time any day.
Link to the past FTW
hey friend same Avatar! same awesomeness! cheers for musashi!!! 4ever
majoras mask remake on wiiu plz nintendo plz!!!
Yeah cuz that's gonna save Nintendo....
Same. Majora's mask was phenomenal.
I liked A Link to the Past more and I played it after OOT. Ocarina was breathtaking in MANY ways but even as a kid I felt it was missing something. Haven't played Majora's Mask yet. Looks like I'm in for a treat.
Ocarina of Time had a great length; it had a lot of content and the story was superb. Playing as young link and later adult Link was amazing. It is the best Zelda game for me.
Wind Waker is my favourite one. Although I love them all.
Majora's Mask for me.
Wind Waker is way better than Ocarania IMO .
