Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a Tolkien game with shades of gray, not good or evil

And as you kill these characters, you may feel some moral ambiguity. This isn’t just about good and evil, as it is an original story set in Middle-earth and inspired by Tolkien’s writings. While it is true to the canon of Tolkien, it doesn’t copy any of the tales in the books. The story of Talion and his quest for vengeance reveals the gray areas in between black and white, according to Michael de Plater, the design director at WBIE for Shadow of Mordor, in an interview with GamesBeat.

Tolkien wasn't much into shades of gray.

Tolkien has described orcs as cruel, wicked, and bad-hearted, who hate everybody and everything. They were squat, sallow-skinned, bow-legged, with long arms and fangs. Their eyes were crimson gashes, like narrow slits in black iron gates in which hot coals burn. They were cannibalistic, ruthless, and terrible, and often their rending claws, and slavering fangs were gored with the bitter flesh and the foul black blood of their own kind.

Some shades of grey are needed to arouse sympathy towards those poor creatures.

I hope this game sell well and creator creates an next part ... Tolkien world is big/amazing and we need games in this universe and Shadow of Mordor example shows that one can go in a direction other than the trilogy...For me is Day One:)
