And they say competition won't exist on a digital ecosystem.

It can. Console platform holders may need a little pushing to embrace it, that's all. Sony are already on the right track.

Speaking of which, how is the PS4 Amazon digital store for content and prices?)

How is Sony on the right track if the only way to buy games for it is still through their own store? On the PC you have multiple sources to buy your digital content, console makers don't offer this option and that is why many including myself are weary of going fully digital. Yes we also see good sales on PS Plus and XBOX Live but it still pales to what's available for the PC. Of course where the console benefits most is the ability to buy physical copies, but how long will we have that option? Even now many games are already only made available digitally, mainly smaller titles but still.

I thought the PS4 has an Amazon digital store as well as their own marketplace?

It was definitely confirmed, but I don't hear much about it so perhaps it isn't live yet.

Edit: http://www.engadget.com/201...
Not yet the integrated store I thought I heard of, but not a closed platform either. Prices aren't rocking my world though.

Volkama is right, I (begrudgingly) purchased Call of Duty: Ghosts through Amazon (a PSN digital download code) for PS4 for ten dollars less.

How the HELL are Sony on the right track at £50+ a game?

I can get the physical copy day of release for less than £40, free delivery from Amazon.

And £20 on PC through Steam keys. PC gaming is SO much cheaper. I pre-ordered Thief, Watch Dogs and Diablo 3 Reaper Of Souls all for <£23 each. £40 on consoles each. I'm getting 2-for-1 at that rate by being on PC.

Sony and Microsoft's pricing are more of a joke than EA's on Origin.

My mistake! Being primarily a PC gamer myself, I made an assumption about the ps4. I assumed the existence if an Amazon store would drive competition and thus lower prices.

It isn't the case, at least not yet.

a canadian website promoting US deals .. oookay

avidgamer11182d ago

Im on amazon now and the onlu thing im seeing are the bundles for pc.

starchild1182d ago

Go to the "Shop by department" tab, then "music, movies and games", then "Digital Games" and you will see the deals there. But it's only for the US, I believe, so if you are from outside the US or are on a different country's amazon site then it might not show up.

There are some fantastic deals there. I got the Batman collection for only 22.55. Even though I already had Arkham City I have been wanting to play the other games and this deal was too good to pass up.
