Total Game Industry Spending $4.6 Billion for Q1 2014

The NPD group has released a report detailing the value of the game industry for the first quarter of 2014. Overall hardware sales were up 47% over the same period in 2013, rising to $983 million. The NPD group attributes this drastic year-over-year increase to the large sales of the Xbox One and PS4. Overall, the game industry brought in $4.6 billion in 2014, a 1% decrease over 2013.

This report indicates two important things: Console gaming is very healthy and digital gaming is still on the rise.

Personally, I find great news for the game industry.
