Bullies Are Turds. SumoBoy is the Anti-Turd

Nathaniel Liles writes: "During my formative grade school years I was bullied constantly. Things were stolen, noses were punched, and being the peaceful dude I am, I never reciprocated the nose punches. While that just made me an easier target, apparently, I was constantly shocked, even at that age, by how little adults seemed to care or intervene. Even when things were happening in their immediate vicinity that would, in the adult world, land someone in super-jail. Well, to help combat the very real problem of bullying, developers involved in Halo and The LEGO Movie are working with TAPRR to create what is inaccurately hailed as Kickstarter’s first-ever anti-bullying inspired game, SumoBoy."

8 or 9 hours? Why not 20 to 24? We aren't playing on smartphones, we're playing on gaming consoles.

"8 or 9 hours? Why not 20 to 24? We aren't playing on smartphones, we're playing on gaming consoles."

This is why these games cost 10-20 dollars.

Let's go back to the days of Super Nintendo and Sega genesis just to illustrate my point. Both of those systems were 32 bit based but had a library of games that averaged 20 hours of gameplay per game. At present, we have the Playstation 4, a gaming system that has 8GB of ram. How difficult do you think it would be for someone to search through the libraries of the 32 bit generation and find some note worthy titles to base a game on? There are no excuses because one indie developer has already done that with Drifter. Cheap to make with 16 to 20 hours of gameplay. 8 hours represents one day. 2 days better than average. 2 1/2 or more days is what i'm looking for and that goal is completely achievable.

Pedrof93 already told you, that's why these games are priced accordingly.

We will be seeing larger games from these developers as time goes on, but the 32-bit systems have already had their time on the market many years ago.

Some of the 32 bit games put some of the current generation games to shame. Rpgs and Jrpgs from that generation were some of the best games I have ever played in the Rpg genre.

and what games that came out is over 20hrs? and dont say an open world game. most AAA games yall be bragging about be around 8-12 hrs. so im kinda lost about where you coming from.

palaeomerus3614d ago

Why would it be hard or extraordinary to get a game that basically looks about like DeathSpank in graphical complexity to render at 1080P and 60 FPS?

GodGinrai3614d ago

I was thinking, the same thing.

DigitalRaptor3614d ago

I don't know.

People just ask these developers questions and turn them into headlines.

GodGinrai3614d ago

I hear that, raptor!

Im over the whole "is it 1080P?" thing, man. As long as the game has a convincing game world (It does not have to be "realistic" to be believable..if that makes sense...you know what I mean if you play games like the journey or limbo or bioshock) and art style AND plays well..I will buy it.

I believe we will see a lot more of that this gen..A shift away from super realistic settings to games that take place in well thought out, well designed, fantasy locations. Or atleast I hope....These machines can do cool graphic effects. This might sound crazy, but I still want a game that looks like the original tron movie.

Kickstarter Weekly: Caffeine, SumoBoy and Shiness

Garrett from The Koalition writes:

Welcome back for the 26th issue of The Koalition’s Kickstarter Weekly. I’ve included this week three projects that provide a little kick. Caffeine is a horror game that could possibly serve as a substitute for the real ingredient that makes coffee so special. SumoBoy is a game that pushes back against bullying. And Shiness is a JRPG that has a more powerful graphics than its competition. Kick back and enjoy the trailers!
