Preview of the community developed game XNA Racer for the Microsoft Xbox 360.
Looks quite impressive for something made by one bloke in four weeks! kinda makes me wonder why game prices needed to rise to accommodate the expense of publishing on the next gen when this is the work of 1 man, maybe studios need to think about trimming the fat!
and by one guy? I can't wait to see where this goes:)
I wonder how the physics are as that must take a long time.
Awesome... I wasn't too sure what to expect from the XNA tool. Very cool.
lol, better looking than the Wii.
That looks cool, and only one guy made that. Wow!
...but the game looks incredibly good and fun. It is a tad bit like TrackMania...
I hope the marketplace becomes the youtube of games as J allard said.
If one person can do this with XNA just imagine what developers will be able to do with games in the future! Remember XNA was designed to give developers much more time to focus on the art side of games rather than all of the diffucult programming! SO now with XNA rather than spending 90 percent of your time on strictly programming and only 10 percent on the art side they have managed to flip those two areas and we will begin to see games that I bet look as good as finding nemo or shrek! From what they make it out to be XNA may be a breakthrough in technology that know one is truly even aware of yet! 2008 is going to be a crazy year for gamers!
game looked amazing
That's really awesome, I downloaded the XNA beta 1 but I just don't understand the code aspect of making videogames so it was useless to me, in the future I'd like to take a college class and get to know this because this would definetly be a very fun hobby
Part of the new XNA stuff is that just straight-up games will be made available for download. Even if you can't code, you can play peoples' games and provide feedback / bug finding / etc.
Well yea I know that which is cool, I just want to be able to create my own and I don't understand how to code that's what I meant, I want to be able to make my own games...
i want to see it. the only thing i can find is the pic next to the article! Where is it?!!
The beta 1 wasn't used by most people (myself included) because the process of getting art assets into the games was a NIGHTMARE kludge. With Beta 2 they added the content pipeline, allowing 3d models to come directly into the development studio...expect cool stuff to start coming soon.
