Why Titanfall’s Second-Screen App Fails To Impress

Twinfinite writes: EA released an app for Titanfall last week, which you can use to see the map while playing or to check your stats. But does the app actually enhance the gaming experience? Or, like many other second-screen apps that have come before, just adds to the clutter? We played around with the app to find out. (Android, iPhone, Mobile, TitanFall, Xbox, Xbox One)

I have to say that I don't use second screen apps very often. Mostly because I just forget about them being there. I am usually too caught up playing. I do use SmartGlass a lot though, awesome way to navigate your OS while in the middle of a game, movie, tv show.

With the Wii U the screen is at least attached to the controller, it's possible to hold the controller up and play while sneaking a glance at the screen. It's also a nice place to relegate and manage items and info.
The problem with other second screen options is that you have the controller that your using both hands with and a screen you have to have propped up somewhere to look down at constantly. Touching that screen is pretty much out of the question during play and looking down at it is usually a hindrance. Also lag, as mentioned in the article, is something that also limits the options of what can be realistically done with the screen.
I would say the lesson here is if you want to do a second screen anything your better off doing it on the Wii U rather than anything else.

Funnily enough, I was catching up with Louie after submitting this.

It's definitely optional, and as I said in the article, quite good by itself. I do appreciate the app and the work it went into it. I just didn't find it useful, and wrote why. If other people do, great! Then the app was worth it.
