Xbox One Without Kinect is a Good Thing

SpawnFirst discusses why selling the Xbox One without the Kinect is a good thing for consumers and Microsoft alike. (Industry, Kinect, Microsoft, Xbox One)

Exactly, gamers who want kinect will pay the extra and does who dont like the idea of kinect now have the option to get the console. i dont understand how having more options is a bad thing. now that the xbox one is now the same price as the ps4 get ready for more attention to resolution and FPS

There will still be games made that require kinect. so if you want that game then you buy that sku or get the accessory by itself.

A lower cost of entry isnt a bad thing. Especially if games like ryse and titanfall can be played without kinect. Even dead rising 3 can be played without it.

some will criticize MS for not sticking to their original plan but then again the original plan was something people didnt want to take the time to really research. It involved some neat ideas but the threat of 'DRM' turned people off.

Change is good when it promotes growth for the better. This kind of change has that potential so long as those who said they 'would get xb1 IF it didnt come with kinect' stick to their word. otherwise there was no genuine interest to begin with.

MS is just looking to broaden their appeal with choices. It worked for the 360 so it's likely they are trying the same approach for the xb1.

I thought Kinect was here to stay for a little while. Turns out I was wrong, DEAD wrong.

I can admit that. The thing is I'm not too surprised because Phil Spencer never really cared for Kinect the way Don Mattrick did.

So its not a complete shocker he bundled it.

This is living proof that Kinect is not as valuable as many (including myself) thought.

Lol good for MS and future Xbox owners.

Cheaper price !!!
NYC_Gamer  +   635d ago
It's good because it allows for the console to be bought for 100 dollars less.

Options are good but I can't imagine my x1 without the kinect but that's me my experience won't be the same for everyone..

Where are the articles on MS dropping gold requirement for non-gaming apps? That's even bigger news.
Lawboy2  +   635d ago
One of those article was just approved and then failed like 2 mins later...that news will go under the radar

You mean this one: http://n4g.com/news/1507627...

It was funny as it was failed by the community first. then changed from failed to pending by a mod. then approved by the community, then failed by the same mod that took it from failed to pending.

It was said to be a duplicate to the delivering more choices. The delivering more choices is such a broad spectrum of information where as this one about gold for xb1 was specific.

It should have been able to stand on its own.

That was Yesterday, i saw a story for it on N4G, so it wasn't ignored.
Majin-vegeta  +   635d ago
That was a rumor. But he's talking about now that it's been confirmed.

Microsoft is also changing the way GWG works.

it should have been an option from the start. i understand that ms was trying to market the xb1 as an entertainment hub, with the kinect being the center of attention, but had they made it separate from the start, more people may have bought the console and just waited a bit to get the kinect. i would have prolly bought an xb1 by now if it was $400, but that extra $100 is actually quite a big deal... like, that's a game and a lil bit right there(you could almost buy a year sub to online services on top of it). i'd rather have a new console with a game than a new console with a camera/voice commands. i got the ps eye after i got my ps4 simply because it wasn't such a huge amount of money up front.

It is good but it shows that they aren't quite sure where they want to go with Xbone. Can anyone count how many times they have done a 180?
