Five 2014 games that may underwhelm

Every single game publisher will advertise it’s products as “great”, “amazing” or “innovative”, but more often than not, that’s not the case. There’s an immense amount of video games that don’t live up to the hype, and Load the Game is going to try to signal out five unreleased games that are very likely to underwhelm in 2014.

Unfortunatley I find alot of games underwhelming these days, but only since I started visiting sites like these. People over hype things so much.

I try to avoid preview articles now, for example I've pre-ordered Watch Dogs but have never read an article on it. I know its meant to be great, thats all I need to know!

Exactly. It is easy to forget that close to everything is marketing or PR in the prerelease stage.

What is worse, though, is the friendly marketing, directly paid or not, disguised as impartial journalism.

Agreed completely, going full media-blackout helps a lot. Don't read too many interviews or previews, don't watch too many gameplay videos, and then when you play it yourself, you will enjoy it more, guaranteed.

Watch Dogs
DriveClub
The Witcher 3
The Division
The Order

Those are some of the games I'm *trying* to go full blackout with. I say trying because it's easier said than done, lol.

I have to agree, while things seem to be changing in terms of how games are coming to the gamer(Seeing more Alpha/Beta releases/ F2P, etc), I find myself unexcited by what we're likely to see in the next year or so. Maybe because it's an overload of whats on offer.

Equally, I think you are right about the Order. I liked the concept initially, but the gameplay looks 'meh.' Something like this might have been better on last gen, especially if it is just a steampunk Gears of War.

I am hoping that the Wolfenstein game will be good (I remember playing 3D all those years ago) and the Doom BETA makes it all the sweeter, but I guess only time will prove me right or wrong.

Not every game is going to be a GOTY candidate it's never been that way since the start but it makes games like the last of us etc all the better,i doubt any of those games on the list will make me want to strip off and go running through the streets on release day in over excitement (maybe when TLOU2 releases) but i can't see myself not enjoying them which is good enough for me.

The article doesn't say that they CAN ever be GOTY material, just don't get your hopes up.

The article doesn't say anything about nitpicking either,i just used GOTY as part of my comment i don't see any thoughts of yours.
