It’s that time again - Nintendo is once again hosting an investor briefing in Japan having reported its latest financial results just a few hours ago.
Cool speeding up the Wii U menu by 20 seconds.
I am not big into buy 2 or 3 consoles since i barely have time for one i got(ps4). But i will be getting a wiiu either this fall or early 2015. I would like to play Nintendo first party exclusives in HD now if Nintendo can drop the price under $200 i may get one sooner. For the amount of games available right now i don't think its a good buy(BTW neither was ps4 or xbox one) end of the day when we get consoles we want games and if history has taught us anything its wait and see approach is the best.(but clearly most of us haven't learned LOL, that's why we keep buying consoles at launch and than those consoles don't get the support for few years)
Agreed I am holding out on next gen for a few years I will game on 360WiiU for now. Waiting for Gears 4 and Last Guardian before I make the jump
not sure where u live but here in uk tesco has a mario kart 8 wii u premium bundle which also includes 1 extra game with MK8 you get to choose from zelda wind waker, mario u, pikmin 3 and a fitness game i think all for £199 that's a bargain! I am sure if you look around you can find a used one for cheap online and since nintendo hardware is reliable you dont need to worry much buying used! either way you can find cheap online premium and basic bundles you just need look around. Wii u is a awesome console and i have by far spent more time on my wii u with the wife and 2 kids in the last year then on my PS4 and X1. Its so underrated and is awesome with some real gems and with more coming out! Don't wait just get one now!!! i promise you wont regret it.
But you still bought the PS4 even though the Wii U's line-up already crushes it and will do twice as much by the end of 2014. Makes no sense. Why not hound Sony to drop the PS4 to $200? You see the problem I got here!
You can already buy a Wii U directly from Nintendo for $200 - so long as you don't mind a refurb. They're apparently "mint" though, and still come with a full warranty: https://store.nintendo.com/ (the store is down for maintenance until tomorrow though)
NFP sounds interesting. I hope it's not just another skylanders, hopefully Nintendo can do a lot more with the NFC stuff. E3 looking pretty good. I hope there's lots of unexpected announcements and new games coming! Fill up the months before Smash bros and all that, and make sure 2015 is filled nicely. Also glad to see that commitment to the Wii U. Wonder what "until existing users are satisfied" means... They also say that they have more ideas. Dropping the wii u would make them lose consumer and developer trust. And with Nintendo's bad relationships with 3rd party developers, that's the last thing you need. Also, dropping support would screw over the indie developers too.
>I hope it's not just another skylanders, hopefully Nintendo can do a lot more with the NFC stuff. Well, that's exactly what Pokemon Rumble is and wasn't successful at all. And I hope the same because I don't see much use for it either.
I don't see Nintendo doing a simple copy and paste...Since when has Nintendo been one to do that? If they can pull something unique of with this it could turn out really cool!
@above Pokemon Rumble already came out last year.
Yes, but Pokemon Rumble was one spin-off game that wasn't made internally at Nintendo. This is an entire business venture they're taking on to try and increase their profits. Very different projects of very differing scopes.
"Nintendo not experiencing a loss from hardware anymore" "More Wii U games at E3" Can't wait for E3 Nintendo Digital Event.
IKR? Really great news posted in this report. Hopefully it ends up being as good as it sounds.
If they're not making a loss on Wii U hardware any more, that is MASSIVE news.
Bayonetta 2 in Summer and X this year, it says! I cannot wait!
Did it actually say that?
Yep, right there in one of the pictures detailing their release schedule. It might only be in Japan, though. I need to double-check...
Just to reiterate they are not losing any money anymore on the Wii U. It's funny people got that old fiscal loss info and now every WII U is making a profit when they are selling Millions of Mario Kart 8, Smash and and whatever other games They are making a profit on the Wii U.
Is it just me or, looking at the games that are about to drop on WiiU, do those sales estimates look really low? I have a feeling Iwata is aiming to under promise and ovr deliver to get shareholders back onside. If he can make profit with just 3 million WiiUs sold this year Im sure he'll manage. MK8 is gonna shift some units.
Thats what he should always do lol
Look no one shows up to ask for Iwata to be fired... lol. Oops! He actually is setting them up to make money with that operating lost! It's too bad he invested in talent rather than hardware specs that are still way under a pc target tech.
