MLB 14: The Show on PS4 Suffering from Extensive Loading Times

Long loading times, as much as three times as long as on PS3, are hurting the experience with the PS4 version of MLB 14: The Show. (MLB 14: The Show, PS4)

So this effect of the better graphics, flip of the coin i guess.

As someone who already has about 3 hours in the RTTS mode I thought those numbers sounded high. So I did a quick test and load times were 30 seconds on the ps4. Not 45 like the article says. I did this test 5 times. Who knows. Maybe a early patch? If you can patch something like that.

i have done a ton of rtts myself and i really don't notice the load times being long.
Booyah  +   421d ago
before you patch it(was playing rtts) it was longer

edit- i did not test it after the patch but i don't feel like loading is long

I do agree withdaggertoes. There was an initial long load at the very beginning when I first played, which was the install and pulldown of the updated rosters. But after that it really hasn't been an issue.

Exactly @ Morganfell, daggertoes.

Initial - Load time took a long minute. after that.. Butter

I hope moving forward games can have less loading times. I am a huge MLB the show fan and have always thought loading times were long on ps3

hopefully with newer tech we can get less of that, now we are having to install the games on hard drive so things should be faster

but i am willing to give the developers a pass, but by nexy year's game they need to have everything atright

The series has always had long loading times but this is simply the best baseball game out there and one of the best sports games.
MastaMold  +   421d ago
It takes a while to load when you boot up the game to get to the main menu but when I start playing RTTS it doesn't take that long to load a match but that's the only game mode I've played so far.

I know they aren't THAT bad, about the same as PS3 with no install. It SUCKED waiting for it to install but once that was done it worked fine.
DJustinUNCHAIND  +   421d ago
My only complaint with the game so far.
SoapShoes  +   421d ago
It's a fun game and highest rated sports game for over 8 years.

I am going to have to time my game tomorrow but I don't think it really takes me as long to get into the game or even to start games as long as the article says. But I also have the digital copy on a 1TB hybrid drive. Hopefully for those who are having the loading issues they will release a patch that fixes this though.

First World Problems! Make a sandwich.

I'll still be playing the game!!
Harkins1721  +   421d ago
The good thing about a hybrid drive. It takes off seconds of loading times. Adds up over time!
GeofferyPeterson  +   421d ago
Yeah because the thing I think about when I buy a hybrid drive is " If I buy this I'll save 15 minutes of my life."
Harkins1721  +   421d ago
I never said life fool. It decreases load times on games. It's a little bit faster. Little things like that matter to some people. There's a YouTube video comparing the regular harddrive to a hybrid and SSD. Why would loading games faster be a bad thing?
TruthInsider  +   421d ago
It doesn't even look that much better than the PS3 version either!

More like if he did play it his eyes would explode from how good it does look and then his mind would explode from the sheer hate that he must have for the game since he can't play it anywhere else but on a Sony system.

I'm really enjoying this game, especially being able to use remote play on the Vita while I'm actually watching real baseball on TV :) But I will say this, people who say this game looks amazing have to be delusional. Sure, it looks good, especially during gameplay. Once outside of gameplay, especially with crowd shots, batter walk-ups, etc, the framerate is total crap and looks like it's around 15fps. Tons of stuttering and screen tearing during the MLB splash screens. This is far from a high performing game. It is very fun though. Graphics aren't everything.

Mine just loaded for 3 minutes, then went into a demo with Braves and someone else.

I have no idea why it would take this long to attempt to load RTTS.

Great game othewise
