Sony's PlayStation 4 has been in a sales decline over the past four weeks in Japan.
Japanese gamers are a very fickle bunch. I think they value their purchases a lot more. People in NA and Europe buy with expectations for the future, Japanese gamers seem to live in the present. If there is compelling software for the platform, it sells very well. We see this week in and week out. A new Vita game launches? Sales spike. 3DS software releases? Sales go up. The PS4 is suffering from a very sparse library (even more-so in Japan). Until some games release that the Japanese gamers want, expect to see sales continue to dwindle. They may even drop below PS3 numbers. That being said, expect sales to boom once the games start coming in. Look at the Vita for example, the PSP was outselling it still a year and a half after the Vita launched there. Now that some good games have arrived, the Vita has definitely taken off.
"People in NA and Europe buy with expectations for the future, Japanese gamers seem to live in the present. If there is compelling software for the platform, it sells very well." So, you're saying Japanese gamers are wise, and NA and European gamers are not.
lol, perhaps.. Or that NA and European gamers have a little more "disposable" income???
My thoughts exactly. They also value mobile and will be happy with the vita and ps3 until new games launch.
it just needs more japanese games
Well if SE finally announce FF 15 release date.I can see a huge surge of PS4 sales in Japan.
So PS4 is doing well everywhere and struggling a bit in Japan due to lack of Japanese focused games. Got it.
