EVE Valkyrie's lead designer wants the game to become the Halo of virtual reality (VR) games.
When asked whether developer CCP Newcastle felt pressure making one of the first full games dedicated to virtual reality, CCP Newcastle's Chris Smith said he hopes the game will mirror the original Halo's 'must-have' status as a launch game for new hardware.
"I don't see it as pressure, I see it as a challenge. Damn right, I want it to be the Halo for VR," he told Digital Spy at EVE Fanfest 2014.
"Halo came along and it wasn't a feature-rich experience, actually - it was a very tight game. But it blew me away, and it made me keep my Xbox."
Smith added the team "pressure [themselves] more than anyone else can pressure" and was pleased with the continued reception to the game at conventions such as EVE Fanfest.
"Our drive is to make sure we deliver on everything you guys wanted from this," he said.
