Marvel Announces They Won’t Release a Crappy Licensed Avengers Game

Muaz from Twinfinite writes: "Gamers know most licensed games tend to suck. It seems like the minds over at Marvel are starting to get wise to that too." (Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes, Industry, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance)

I believe in the phrase of "I'll believe it when I see it" should apply to all licensed games so...

To Marvel: I'll believe it when I see it :D (But please don't let me and millions of others down on this!)

Holy cow, this could be big. They've surely got my attention now.

The Iron Man II developer said something similar...only to be axed later. Horrendous games that I desperately tried to like.

If an character screams technology its Iron Man and they completely threw away a great chance. With a linear experince. Choosing War Machine to play a level isn't choice.

They used the technique from the first game - "Screw the AI, just throw a hundred enemies at the player!"

This is an encouraging announcement. Hopefully Marvel can stick to it, because I would like to see a well made Avengers game, or none at all if they can't find someone to make them a good one.

It seems to be Marvel's motto as a company. "Don't Make Garbage"

Movies are ok though.

also can you get the spider-man game rights from activsion and get someone to make a spider-man game on the level of arkham city and asylum

I don't see why not. They've been releasing crappy movies lately with "the amazing spiderman" movies and the upcoming craptacular "fantastic 4" movie (even though only 3 of them are "fantastic" this time around).
animegamingnerd  +   80d ago
that is actually sony for spider-man and fox for fantastic four and xmen. marvel made films like the avengers, the iron-man 1 and winter solider some of the best superhero movies in my opinion. (though i do like most of the spider-man films except for 3 and i really enjoyed xmen first class)

Marvel didn't do Spiderman.

Disney doesn't have the rights to do a Spider-man film, and the Fantastic 4 isn't going to be under them either.

The only upcoming movies they have now is: Gaurdians of the Galaxy, Ironman, and whoever else can be tied with the Avengers who aren't the X-Men or Spidey.

I liked the Lego Avengers game but would like something more serious.

I would also like them to get Iron Man's flight control physics right because those Iron Man movie tie in games did not do it justice!

There was that ambious project they canceled that was supposed to be a first person Avengers game...too bad that didn't pan out.

Just get Raven Software back for an Avengers game.

They made the excellent Wolverine and Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, if there's anyone who can do Marvel games well, its them
gameDevWannaBe  +   80d ago
great! Rocksteady seem to be the only ones doing comic characters justice.
ironfist92  +   79d ago
theyre owned by WB

I was talking about super hero games in general.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Just like lots of things this gen.

Like Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth?
candy_mafia  +   80d ago
All this just 'cos a Marvel spokes person (when asked), simply stated, a potential Avengers game has to have the right developer/quality treatment.

That does not equate to an Avengers game coming soon....

@animegamingnerd

Although Sony make the movies, Sony don't have the rights to make a Spiderman game, and maybe that's for the best. A Sony developed Spidey game would not appear on X1 or Wii U.
