Dota 2 surpasses World of Warcraft in terms of active player numbers

Dota 2 is currently one of the most popular games around, even more popular than the legendary World of Warcraft if we are to look at the numbers. A user on Reddit noticed that the ‘ unique players in last month ‘ counter found on the official Dota 2 blog now shows over 7.86 million. By comparison, Blizzard’s MMO only has active 7.8 million subscribers as of December 30, 2013. (Blizzard, Dota 2, Industry, PC, Valve, World of Warcraft)

World of Warcraft is a Beast with 7.8 million active players. Even with the decline WoW still makes over $1.4 BILLION Dollars yearly. Not bad for being in DECLINE!

Dota2 is a MONSTER with 7.86 and growing FAST active gamers. Fastest growing game EVER. Good Job Valve!

Meanwhile League of Legends is a flatout Nightmare Elite Elder Beast God with 32 million active players.

32 million ACTIVE players on ONE platform!! That's more than Call of Duty across 6 platforms.
