Phil Spencer has announced on twitter that he wants to have more timed game demos and demos on Xbox One.
It would be great to have playable demos though. With his new position it shouldnt be too difficult to pull that off.
Agree. I buy more games base on demos than I do based on reviews. Thanks Phil!
#XboxOnederful Lets make it trend!
Lol you're a glutton for punishment. There's more chance of Vanilla Ice making a comeback than that being a trend. But by all means, try. The X1 (and PS4) need more demos. Obviously the games library is quite thin at the moment but demos are a great way to gauge whether or not to buy the full game. Now watch how Kojima releases a demo of Ground Zeroes (which is basically a demo) with a timed play limit of 0:06 seconds. (I bet you could rescue one of the guys anyway in that time lol).
How about #XboxOneDirection lol
vanilla ice already made a comeback, he is flipping houses on tv now
Please that's one was awkward in this community unfortunely but @youn: Just weird reminds me of that boy band:(
yo,flipping houses is awesome though.. (/¯◡ ‿ ◡)/¯ ~ ┻━┻
This isn't QUITE what he said. Yeah he said he would like them, but he also pointed out that these types of demos generally start from the beginning, which might not be the best part of the game. He said he was in favor of Demos AND game trials....although reading this, I think he's more interested in Demos than timed trials. (looks like the title was changed).
Its in response to a lead in question, not something he came up with himself. Which otherwise would be a concern given that a timed demo would be no better than a timed exclusive. business as usual. Nevermind that demos never fully represent the full game.
Here comes negative Nancy strolling into an Xbox article again. I dont possibly see how any of this is bad
Can you even make an effort to present a counter argument? Show me in all those massive twitter paragraphs where Spencer is doing more than responding positively to a suggestion? For that matter why, when we have full on games being released which are incomplete, a modern demo would represent one? Wouldn't only be a resource drain.
And here comes debbie downer to piss on all things Xbox. I commend you for your dedication.
And he's a parrot... I mean seriously, there's not putting any effort into a comment, and then there's what you did.
Phil Spencer want's timed demo's and more demos on Xbox One... so do I :P But I think that will be hard for developers when the main focus of this gen from gamers and media sites has been how many pixels there are on each multiplat game :/
Believe it or not. It was fun to count how many pixels in CoD ghost (Be4 I get disagrees it is a jk, I dont even buy CoD or like it)
Well make it happen, youre the guy
I never understood the point of either console having timed demos, seems pointless.
PS+ does timed game trials pretty well. You get one hour, have at it. Go far as you can. And if by the end you end up wanting to play more, you know what to do. But I HATE timed "demos-demos" (if you were talking about them, then I agree), demos that actually have an end but then also enforce a time limit (FF13 lightning returns). It just seems silly to have the player restart again and again. Let's not get me start on "timed" games :P
Timed demos: Like the 3ds- each demo has a limited amount of times you can 'play' them. Timed trials: -Like PS+ I feel as though he's referring to the "timed DEMO" route. Not the "PS+ route".
Game trials I think are great, I meant timed demos :)
Love Phil Spencer he was always my favorite at Xbox. Now that hes head of Xbox its just even better. This guy is going to bring xbox to new heights. Perfect guy for the job always does amazing work and really communicates with fans no matter how busy he is. Really awesome guy.
Timed Exclusives are complete BS.
They better not start with this type of stuff otherwise I will definitely not purchase their console in the future. I want incentives to buy there console not to take away games from the current one I have otherwise they are just going to alienate me. QB is currently the only game catching my attention at the moment.
How can they provide 'incentives' without alienating the competing console's user base? That's literally the whole point of exclusives -> offer something that's unavailable elsewhere.
Timed exclusive and exclusive content is absolutely crap simple as and I dont think any of the console makers should do it. All it does is piss me off not just at the console maker but the game developer as well as I get to lose out on content dependent on the console of choise. 1st party exclusive is a completely different kettle of fish. But isnt that the point by pissing off the people that you would potentially like to buy your console.
I want more demos! I think if games had playable demos again, devs would be making their games better. Who buys a game after playing a terrible demo? No one. They can release any crap right now and we cant try before we buy, well not as simply as we used to anyway!
Yet again another propaganda news from MS. Just empty promises again. I like how even the news from Sony ans MD is on a different level. Just from the recent days, we saw a vieo of playstatinon now during work, concept art from an unannounced Naughty Dog game, screens from a PS4 exclusive Souls game, Sony trademarking an Everything's Game title. And whats from MS? It esram WILL make a nice popcorn effect. directX 12 WILL make better graphics, E3 WILL focus on hardcore gamers, there WILL be a finally decent game for kinect. Always a future tense nothing in the hands reach, like they WILL make a VR kit too. I like how they stamp N4G PS4 biased, because the majority of the people buy a cheaper and stronger console, with actual fact news. It is not our fault that Ms came up with some terrible ideas and thought nothing about the consequences. Without us, Xboners would be living in a DRM nightmare now.
Didn't realize answering twitter questions from fans was empty promises and propaganda. He didn't promise anything in this tweet other than saying he'd like to see more demos/timed trials of games. Which is true because I too have noticed the marketplace is real short on demos of games. Trials Fusion for example, has a demo available on the 360 while the Xbox One does not.
I wondered how long a simple title like 'More Demo's on Xbox One' would degenerate into DX12, Cloud Compute, PS4 competition... and other totally irrelevant things that have nothing to do with 'DEMO's' !! OT Bring on the demo's Phil Spencer! Phil is integral to making X1 a better proposition :)
It degenerates into PS competition in a way that there are 1 hour trial versions for PS+ for years now. MS could have done this a long time ago, but they didnt do it. The 1 and only case which comes into mind is that X360 got an early access to Resident Evil 6 demo, and thats it. So it is a bit hyppocracy from MS that they "want" to do this. So Phil Spencer is just a new face, nothing really changed since Don Mattrick.
Prototype I had trouble identifying which bubble to give you but trolling fits best. Since you mentioned "Xboners" then as a $ony Pony you should read the article first(hint its about X1 demos) prior to your off topic rants covering the usual mention of DX12, PS4, $ony, N4g bias, etc.
What stopped Ms from bringing more demos to X1 already? What stopped developers to use the esram properly already? What stopped the developers to use the power of the cloud already? I think the gamers stated pretty much exactly what they want waaaay back now, why does this need a twitter questioning? Why do i feel that MS gives a shit what gamers want? (yepp, kinect, still no use for it, if at least they would make a ton of PS eye level games)
The beginning of the game isn't necessarily the best part of the game, but then, if I played the best part of the game in the demo, that could lead to biggest expectations and a bigger letdown if I end up buying the full game. I love demos. I think with PS+ you play the game for an hour and then you can continue where you left off if you buy the full game. That's the way I would prefer a demo that's more than 30 minutes long be handled, but I guess it would depend on the kind of game it is.
Good deal I think
We all want more demos on every system. I wish there were a 1 hour trial for every game that releases.
he should just buy a ps3 if that's the case
Demos need to make a comeback. In the PS1 days we had loads and now we get hardly any.
Yeah more demos needed. Trouble is if I'd played a demo of all of the next gen exclusive games I wouldn't have bothered buying them as they are all average at best. I'm still awaiting to be blown away. I'm hopeful of Watchdogs, but I won't hold me breath.
No talents to call their own. Just buy exclusivity *facepalm
You guys on N4G want proof that some people only read the title and don't bother clicking the actual link, this comment proves it. ^^^ http://i.imgur.com/joXN16i....
