After two years of testing, Comcast and EA are close to reaching an agreement to stream video games such as FIFA and Madden into the living rooms of some of Comcast’s more-than 22 million customers across the United States.
Looks like Microsoft's TV approach will come back to bite them in the ass. Get all your entertainment in one box already in your house, no $500 box required.
this has failure written all over it
Well this just made PSNow irrelevant.
Pretty sure with PSNow, you'll be able to play more then EA games. :/
So funny I forgot to laugh...
You forgot to laugh because Sony is going broke.
I know right? Because EA makes every single game in the PlayStation catalog.
Good freakin luck making it work as well.
How is it irreverent when comcast will likely charge an extra $20 or so dollars a month for another lease box you can't possibly own. Gateway MT6706 2008
Un freaking real the "worst companies in america" three years running teaming up for complete garbage nobody wants. I hope they get their Fu**ing ass handed to them on this deal. PUKE
The gaming landscape is definetly changing.
wtf ea has yet to get any of their online games running correctly on consoles or pc. now they expect to stream online games directly to a tv? well good luck with that
Sounds like the Sega Channel all over again. I wonder if save files will work this time.... AND... "Customers will be able to use tablets (that are hooked up, wirelessly, to the TV) as controllers." That sounds like a failure in the making.
It's comcast. EA really should rethink that because when you say "comcast", feelings of rage and hatred rise up to the surface and do they want to compel even MORE feelings of hatred with their already-tarnished name?
I wasn't a fan of comcast until I moved to an area that only has time warner or satellite as options. (Still not a 'fan' but actually miss having them now). As crappy as comcast customer service is, it must be said that they services and features that come with it a beyond anything other cable companies offer. It's no surprise that EA went with comcast, they do have the largest subscriber base of all cable companies. If they are gonna make a deal like this, it's going to be with the company with the largest network.
Only problem is, comcast has gotten so big, it see's small & large communities upgrading to gigabit fiber, as weeds to cut be down before they take root. Ask yourself why we all aren't surfing on Google fiber speeds yet. It gonna get worse if the timewarner merger goes through. Gateway MT6706 2008
@kingPoS It's not like TimeWarner was going to be adding fiber any time soon. I moved here just before the merger was announced, and I was actually happy for the merger... That's how bad TWC is. I had Cox cable before too... it was just as aweful. I get it, Comcast is the big bad wolf stifullimg infrastructure improvements, but at the same time, it's the only logical partner for EA. I hate to say it, but the government needs to regulate cable distribution in the same way it does telephone line distribution. In Europe, companies aren't competing for access to areas, they are competing purely on price and services. That forces prices way down. In the US, since providers have ownership of the copper and the right-of-way, smaller companies will never be able to compete. There have even been attempts for local governments to provide tax subsidized cable, using public land, in areas comcast has no interest in serving... Comcast won the law suit citing the. Public companies would have an unfair inside track... Go figure.
