5 changes PS Vita needs to threaten Nintendo 3DS

PSU discusses how Vita could catch up with Nintendo DS in the gaming handheld market

Reviews2Go3652d ago

I definitely agree with a couple points, and one point both 3DS and Vita need, with exclusives staying exclusives. The Vita has been a victim of this with games going HD via PS3 like Assassin's Creed and Batman. 3DS is also suffering this from Castlevania and Resident Evil going HD on them.

ehhh..kinda to a point, but those games are a year to a few years old by the time they get ported to a gaming console. Im sure they monitors sales and once the sales have tapered off below a certain threshold it is more profitable to port them and obtain new sales.(if no one is buying those vita games anymore.. why not port it and make more money, instead of letting it sit).

I understand that vita games need to be exclusive to vita but the vita games must not be selling enough to make it worth keeping them fully exclusive yet.

They are kinda damned if they do and damned if they dont.

ts all about the KIND of GAMES, GAMES, GAMES for the PS Vita.

Games for the hardcore AND the KIDS, CHILDREN, GIRLS, YOUNG GAMERS, CASUALS, ETC.

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO LOOK AROUND AND OBSERVE.

Dedicated handheld gaming machines, whether you like it or not will always be perceived by the general public as being for kids, children, young gamers, casuals, etc. etc.

Dedicated handheld gaming machines, whether you like it or not will always be perceived by the general public as being for kids, children, young gamers, casuals, etc. etc.

That is the reality of it. Hardcore gamers buy them too but compared to kids they are niche.

Sony needs to make games not only for the hardcore gamers but also for Nintendo's market the kids, children, young gamers, girls, & casuals.

A well balanced offering of games.

Its a noble mission to get the hardcore gamer support dedicated gaming handhelds. Sony accomplished that mission with the PSP with 80 million units sold. Bravo! but that was before mobile gaming exploded. Now the climate is different.

Mobile gaming took the crown from even Nintendo's 3DS much more from Sony's PSP.

Having tons of games for kids, children, young gamers, girls, & casuals IS NOT SELLING OUT!

The hardcore gamer today used to be kids playing 8-bit or Gameboy games.

Remember: Nintendo said, " we are not targeting children enough!"
That quote is so ripe with meaning! And this is coming from Nintendo itself!

You know what I am talking about when Minecraft comes to PS Vita!
You gonna see an explosion in awareness and install base!!!!!

If 3DS has Pokemon, Monster Hunter etc etc watch Minecraft equalize the competition.

1.- AAA EXCLUSIVE titles (No indie crap, and no porting to PS3).
2.- Memory card prices (100€ for 64GB? Come on!)
3.- Get rid off of the CMA crap.
4.- Get rid off the need of formating cards when switching accounts.
5.- With the current state of the Vita games need to be ultra-cheap if they want to attract people to buy them. (Below 20€. I'm not paying the same price for a handheld inferior title as the superior home console title).
6.- If not exclusive at least CROSS-BUY !!! That's a major reason to attract PS3 owners to PS Vita.

They tried to get PS3 owners on board already with cross buy on top titles like All Stars and Sly 4 but people didn't respond well to it. Its also contradictory of you to state that you want cross buy but at the same time you want exclusives with no porting to PS3?

Sony have given up on you and have moved onto the type of customer who has already bought the PS4.

Lets be honest it will not happen

Not gonna happen til the Sky is green

Its a shame the vita isn't doing better, from a hardware standpoint, it obliterates the 3ds' dinosaur tech and has far better online. Just needs more western support, though I'm really liking all the localizations coming its way.
