The Evil Within Preview: Shinji Mikami Made A Game With Zombies In It (Again) | WarpZoned

Warpzoned: Perhaps it was wrong of me to slot The Evil Within into a niche it may never have belonged in. But a few trailers, and the rest of Bethesda’s previously released marketing material, were all I had to go on. The Evil Within is definitely not what I was expecting, but with Mikami at the helm, there’s a good chance it could become a great game. That doesn’t mean Bethesda should be “blamed” for The Evil Within’s poor PAX East, but I’m now much more lukewarm towards the game than I was before the convention. (PC, PS3, PS4, The Evil Within, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

Same here. Between this and Alien: Isolation, there's gonna be plenty of creepy gaming to keep me busy come fall.

The previewer didn't know the game had Zombies before? I mean, the very first screenshots of the game showed Zombies.

And the gameplay footage last year had the player fighting off Zombies.

Don't act shocked if you didn't do your homework, Mr."Journalist"

The first Resident Evil & the first Silent Hill is my favorite survival horror games, both have the winning recipe both have the right atmosphere the claustrophobic environment, both were very scary & made u be at your toes at all times, both have puzzles & locked paths u must find a way to unlock, both have strong enemies & limited supplies that force u to skip some enemies & manage your resources wise unless u want to meet a boss u can't skip & not be able to kill him, why we don't get games like those 2 anymore? I miss the PS1 era all my favorite games released back in the 90's :/ although I must admit there is some very few rare exceptions to that rule (TLOU).

TLOU is an anomaly, the only thing that game needed to improve upon in my opinion is it's aiming/camera sensitivity. Turning is sometimes too slow, but it's basically a masterpiece. There were other games that came out that set the bar higher too, but I think a reason so many people hark back to those days is because of the nostalgia that went along with it, and the fact that games weren't really 3D until playstation and n64 released. And that was literally a whole new dimension for us!

Well, there goes our hope of this being scary. May still be a fun/enjoyable game, but I don't think "being armed to the teeth" equates to a a good survival horror game. Guess we'll see when it's released, don't want to pass it off just yet...

agreed - an abundance of ammo makes it a shooter...NOT survival horror.

yep if we can shoot the zombies we need a more limited ammo count.

maybe on hard we will get that
