Extra Credits: Comedy relies on timing, but video games can go beyond the scripted scenes of films or television to create interactive "comedy by choice" that lets each player discover humor on their own.
There are so many reasons why humor doesn't work in games. Chief among them is that most humor relies on timing, and games lack the authorial power to enforce comedic timing. That's arguably the greatest strength of gaming, but a terrible weakness for humor. In Japan, pun-based humor is very prevalent owing to the... slipperiness of the language (sorry: I couldn't think of a more appropriate adjective there). These puns generally add a great dimension of humor to games like Dragon Quest or Phoenix Wright, particularly when they're well translated (which is difficult). To this day I can't see a Cruelcumber or a Hell Pepper without cracking a smile.
i feel like point and click games have some of the best humor in any games like in Sam and Max series and speaking of hilarious point and clicks you should go and play "The Best Game Ever Made" on newgrounds. especially because it's totally free game and it'll run on a rock that's running W95. i remember playing it when it came out and laughing my ass off http://www.newgrounds.com/p...
