It’s been a problem for a long while but is now becoming a joke.

This is footage from Caspian Border and the game just seems unplayable right now on most servers.

I've never known a series be so consistently shit. Even Battlefield 2, a game which everyone seems to continue to praise, it was borderline unplayable at times. I lost count how many patches were released. The common trend with these games is that they release a patch to fix a patch that fixed an issue introduced in the patch before that. Each one bigger than the last. It's shocking.

Really, look up a changelog on any of the Battlefield games. It's almost funny just some of the things that something as late as patch #5 will fix. Things that make you think 'how the fuck did this pass version 1.0?"

This game should not be this buggy and unstable after so many updates and fixes. How is this bug only NOW surfacing? It BEGS an explanation. The funny thing is, even when they do release yet another inevitable update for the game, something new will crop up. The cycle continues.

With all that said, underneath all this is an absolutely terrific game that has moments of brilliance sprinkled in. I WANT this series to do well, but DICE need to find a new team to code their games. It's beyond a joke at this point.

Aleithian3662d ago

Agreed. Will not get BF5 until I'm certain they've patched it up, rendering it playable. Responding with the wallet is the only way to get through to some of these companies.

zeee3661d ago (Edited 3661d ago )

Lol, this is NOTHING compared to the lag that I have seen. Seriously, I have made a promise to myself that I will not get BF5 on launch. But will wait until it's all patched up. Oh and did I mention that I don't plan to buy a brand new copy of BF5? Yes, gotta stick it up to the man which would be EA/Dice in this case.

Go to hell Dice and don't give me that EA made us do that crap either. 6 months forward and the game is still broke!? No excuse, no excuse what so ever!

Palitera3662d ago

I agree that the game was undertested/underfixed before release, but the 'journalists' make it seem much bigger.

SirBillyBones3662d ago

No they really don't. I'd say journalists in general are underplaying how broken this game is.

Palitera3662d ago

Well, I've played it a lot (more than 50 hours, first BF I enjoy since Bad Company 2) and the only two problems I had was rubberbanding and tons of server search issues.

Two big problems, but I can't recall any other recurring problem in my experience.

To be fair, most people that are going against the game, as usual, didn't even play it.

But ok, not my problem.

badz1493661d ago

@Palitera

These are legit complaints regarding the game and it's already a common acceptance that BF4 is a broken game and problems after problems surface with each update since launch.

The game was simply not ready for launch but EA launched it anyway and now trying to fix it post launch which is pathetic considering there are lots of other games' betas running with less bug than the retail BF4!

hulk_bash19873662d ago

Wow, it's amazing how we are 5 months out of launch and EA/DICE hasn't been able to sort this out.

badz1493661d ago

I doubt they care THAT much anymore as they already made their money and EA's minds are probably already on their upcoming year end FPS and DICE's are already on the next BF while only a couple of people in a 2nd (or 3rd) team are left to "try" patching this mess maybe for long enough until people forget about it and focus on the next BF!

T23661d ago

@badz - I'm gonna disagree, I think you are partially correct but the bad press this game is getting will damage their future profits no doubt... I am a huge battlefield fan and I haven't bought one dlc or premium for BF4 and I am sure I am not alone... also not buying BF5 new, going to get it used, DICE/EA deserve that...

SirBillyBones3662d ago

Couldn't agree more.

It's like a house built on dodgy foundations. The walls will crack and everything will start to fall down. The only option is to knock it down and start from scratch. Which obviously can't happen when the game is already out there.

Which leads to the inevitable conclusion that the game is far beyond repair. Anyone that thinks otherwise is just fooling themselves. I saw the signs and stopped playing it 3 months ago, and have been rage free ever since!

dougr3662d ago

I'm very disappointed. I have the season pass, I downloaded the new navy maps the day they came out, the lag was so bad on big servers I just couldn't play it. I haven't touched the game in weeks, Dice/EA doesn't care though as they already have my money for the game and DLC, refunds should be in order when a game isn't playable. I should get a refund for 1/5th the cost of my season pass considering right now I was only able to play 2/3 so far.

CKPan3661d ago

JUST DONT BUY ANY SEASON PASS, YOU CANT NEVER KNOW WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO OFFER...

Oschino19073662d ago

The smaller scale digital only BF 1943 is probably the least buggy of all the BF games I know of. Don't recall many problems even at release.

Sometimes less is more, they are trying too much to fast. Before they fix engine or server issues from the last game they introduce even more to stress it in the new one.

AgentSmithPS43661d ago

I think everyone should demand that dice/ea refund the money to premium buyers and then give ALL the DLC to everyone for free to partially make up for what they've done to us, and fix the lag and bugs of course...

DarthZoolu3661d ago

Battlefield 2, Bad Company 2, and 3 were great! 4 is the only one I would say is shit.

First off they have already found the problem and are gonna be updating the servers(wish it was sooner than later but what can you do??)
http://blogs.battlefield.co...

2nd:Just search for a Testserver the difference is huge and game feels much better.

@King you have a point but the testing takes time.I rather they take the time than release the update and break it even more.still DICE went full retard and should have held the game back even more.

KingDon3662d ago

But Seriously...Six months after launch?!?!

3662d ago
Legion213661d ago

@n4gamingm that's just giving EA more money.

zeee3661d ago

I agree. 6 months is a long time. DICE are simply ignorant pieces of sh*t is what it is. Why can't they simply unlock the Conquest Small mode? Is it THAT difficult? I know it's not cuz I know a bit about programming myself!

BlackWolf123661d ago

"I rather they take the time than release the update and break it even more."

You've just described the biggest mistake DICE made with the game, and the biggest thing that everyone is angry about.

They should have delayed the game, and spent more time ironing out bugs, rather than push it out early just to compete with COD (which will never happen now).

Bf4 has so much shit going on in it that I see why it lags honestly tanks helicopters water vehicles and the descruction I mean they need to have more build time with these games yearly releases for this series is not good 2 years will help make a better game

Hellsvacancy3662d ago

No excuse, Bad Company 2 had all of that, yeah it looked a little less pretty but it ran pretty solid, best Battlefield game to date

csreynolds3662d ago

Totally with you on this. Bad Company 2 was easily the best BF game - certainly on PS3.

KingDon3662d ago

Battlefield 4 was released two years after Battlefield 3.

tigertron3662d ago

The rubber banding made me trade this in...

Battlefield 1, Hardline, BF4 Servers Are Being Taken Offline by Cheaters; EA Silent on Issue

Cheaters & hackers have been causing grief on Battlefield 1, Hardline & BF4 servers, with nonstop DDoS attacks among other things. Unfortunately, EA has remained silent about it.

-Foxtrot757d ago

Course they are silent, they are hoping people flock to 2042

gamesftw250756d ago

Maybe it was a inside job then haha.

jeromeface756d ago

wouldnt be the first time, titanfall 1+2 anyone?

PapaBop756d ago

Not even if they paid me.. EA always do this with old games with less money potential, if this was Ultimate Team, they'd address and sort it faster than stories could spread. Why invest time in their products when they will just dump it in the following years? Then again EA never could see the forest for the trees.

Inverno756d ago

I imagine after those games were given out for free a couple months back through Amazon, anything that makes people go to 2042 is a plus for them

XiNatsuDragnel757d ago

They want people to go on 2042. My theory

excaliburps756d ago

Nah. I think they can't do anything about it or they want to sink money into fixing it.

Pudge102888756d ago (Edited 756d ago )

EA owns all BF servers so yes, they can do something about it but they refuse to because they dont want ppl playing their old games instead of the new one. Its EA we’re talking about here

pr33k33756d ago

if this happened in 2042, they'd have something to say. which is weird, considering battlefield 1 has more players on steam right now.

Pudge102888756d ago

Its so obvious that EA is doing this or hired ppl to mess up the games so that we’d be forced to have just 1 Battlefield working.

FPS_D3TH756d ago

Honestly it’s probably the devs themselves. They did an update to bf4 way back that kinda made assault rifles doo doo in hopes that people would flock to BF1 cuz BF4 was too perfect

There's a bunch of great shooters on gamepass; both legacy and new.

A recommendation I have is a work in progress preview title called Anacrusis. It's a lot of fun, and has a cool aesthetic.

KeenGamer: "Sometimes a game starts out as a buggy mess and we all just stop and think, “that definitely could have spent a bit more time in the oven”. This is the case for these 5 games which infamously marked their place in recent game memory."
