Indie Stash Cast – Ko-Op Mode Talks Experimental Games, Indie Game Initiatives, and GNOG

Blane talks to Saleem Dabbous from Ko-Op Mode about their experimental approach to game design, how their studio functions, and their upcoming game GNOG.

Rather than functioning like a traditional studio where the entire team is working on completing a game, Ko-Op Mode members are each working on their own unique games and can help other team members as needed. When team members are not working on their own games, they are supporting the studio by taking on contract work.

Some examples of Ko-Op’s experimental game design philosophy can be seen in Please Don’t, Space Dog, a convention exclusive game where players use a MIDI sound board and an Oculus Rift to pilot a shuttle in space, and GNOG, a game that has players solving puzzles inside the “Gnoggins” of monsters.
