I don't recall the original, but this looks nice. How long ago was the OG released ?

I only got to trying Outcast a few years back. Never completed it though. It came across a tad too archaic for a modern machine. Odd resolution and aspect ratio issues. Control-wise it took some time to get used to.

But even with it being so old, the graphics were evocative and vibrant. A true alien world sensation. Audio was great too. The gameplay sort of reminded me of the Gothic games.

Will be a pleasure to play the re-make.

Was Outcast really that much of a classic? I didn't think it was beloved enough to get a reboot. I barely remember it at all.

Right from the start this struck me as more of a vanity project by the original devs / IP owners. The thing that surprised me was that they managed to raise 250k. I would have happily backed an innovative spiritual successor - but all the innovative elements of the original game have been superseded in the last 15 years.
