''So there I was, Friday night, a bit of a bash with the guys lined up for the evening, but I figured I'd just install this and give it a quick go before I went out. You know where this going right. Next thing I know it's Saturday lunchtime, my voicemail is full of people moaning wanting to know where I am and hoping I'm not "playing one of those bloody games again", I'm starving and my head is wondering if it is ever going to get to know what sleep is again.
Not since Civilization IV has a game glued me to my PC like this. Even the lure of GTA 4 on the big screen downstairs couldn't get me away from it. The previous games in the series were huge in scope and scale. This has been cut back slightly, basing itself on a particular historical time period, but while the scope may have been trimmed the sheer hugeness of what goes on in here is as awe inspiring as ever. While the game is based in and around the Roman Empire, it covers far more than most would have known from the history books or the movies. It's a lot more than "just" the Romans.''
