Comparing Final Fantasy X HD Remaster Tracks With Their Originals

Gamesided: "After peering over a great deal of the soundtrack (there is over 3 hours of individual songs in this game!), I’ve come to the conclusion that some of the musical changes to Final Fantasy X are warranted. Some of the new arrangements, however, feel like they are trying to do too much and end up muddying what was a perfectly-acceptable song. Finally, some changes are genuinely better than their originals. In the grand scheme of things, there should be a choice on using the OST or the remastered soundtrack within the game." (Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster: Collector’s Edition, PS Vita, PS3)

I like the updated textures, but I really prefer the original music. The remixed versions sound like they were going for a very old-school/retro feel (which I'm normally all for).

Yeah would have been better to just have the option to switch to the old soundtrack. It's kinda cool to hear a different take on them though (that's what I keep telling myself!) Still, it's a great game and holds up really well apart from some dodgey voice acting.

When comparing side by side, you obviously take more of it in, but during play it becomes quite natural to your ears that either could be playing.

I honestly love most of the new ones. Especially besaid island

They work well while playing. I was put off too at first

they ruined "challenge" and sort of ruined the seymour boss theme (they took all percussion out of both of them. which takes the energy out of the boss fight songs). also the version of spira unplugged they use in besaid is pretty bad (i cant believe the guy in the article likes the remake better..... just no)

the rest of the time I didnt notice too much that they changed it. there was no reason to change the soundtrack. all it did was mess up a few songs. is that why the game was delayed? so they could get the soundtrack done? if so, thats just square enix being square enix.

I liked the new Seymour theme. :O

But yeah it's strange that they didn't at least give gamers the option to switch between the new and old soundtracks. If you're going to spend so long making a new soundtrack, at least give people the chance to play the game as it was originally intended

Some of the new tracks are great, like Hurry (FFX HD version) and Battle Theme (FFX HD version).
