Nintendo @ E3 2014: Nintendo Direct Or Live Broadcast?

With March in our rear-view mirror and June quickly coming into full focus, there’s no looking back. The time to get excited about Nintendo @ E3 2014 is now. Nintendo needs to be on stage with some amazing new Wii U titles. If not, they are gonna be forgotten again. Last year there was next to nothing from them.

With them saying Zelda will be debuted, I would have to imagine they would show it off on stage.

Right, the thing is them not showing up was probably the best move at the time thanks to the next gen systems stealing the show.

Nintendo can't afford to ditch out of E3 this time, imo they gotta free pass last year. But if they ditch out of E3 this year then They would be looked at as irrelevant this time, and proving people like Michael Pachter and Jason Rubin from Naughty Dog and THQ that they're irrelevant.

I don't hate Pachter as much as most do but I really don't want him to be right as well as Jason.

I want them to have a show primarily because the Directs lag, also i want to see peoples reaction to the first HD Zelda.

Yeah they need to "show up" in more ways than one. Iwata needs to get the ball rolling here or he's gonna be out.

Why does it matter to the 99% of us at home watching whether they are on stage or in studio somewhere? We're all just going to be streaming all 3 conferences on our computers, tablets, gaming devices. The point is always what they show and say, and this year's conference is going to have to be pretty spectacular or revolutionary to have them going in the right direction.

diepdiep1269d ago (Edited 1269d ago )

Watching the conferences is more exciting when there's an audience reacting to the new games. The Nintendo Direct didn't have a live crowd which made their presentation feel empty.

An on-stage show is what Nintendo should go for.

And I know Nintendo needs a pretty big reaction to something... anything that they could show off to draw in more gamers, honestly I can think of maybe 3-5 times there was a general excitement in crowd due to an E3 announcement; Obviously last years PS4 no-drm thing, the Twilight Princess announcement, the PSP reveal, the Wii reveal. But if we think back to all the things that can/do go wrong during a stage conference... Nintendo can ill afford one of those.

oh yeah like how Microsoft Xbone reveal and PS4 Japan launch fake audience audio

Maybe Sony and MS have some "applause" signs they could loan Nintendo ;)

Congrats for this post!! I have the same opinion and I had the same opinion last years. Its worthless this discussion.....I don't mind if they are on stage or nore. Though, I mind only for the games that they are gonna show us....

Concertoine1269d ago

Nintendo definitely needs to be on stage.
The directs are great, but it's like shouting in a room of people who already own a 3ds/wii u versus shouting to a world of gamers.
I think if they had a press conference they would be at 6.5 million wii u's sold, maybe more for 3ds as well. Not a huge increase over what they have now, but that's not including those that got interested in the console via E3 when they might not have been interested enough to seek out the direct.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory1269d ago

Which matter more to you. Nintendo games and feature announcement or audiences who doesn't matter.

Geobros1269d ago (Edited 1269d ago )

Nintendo will do another direct on this E3....

MasterCornholio1269d ago

I agree. Its their new method of delivering information to their fans.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory1269d ago

depending on how much they are showing.

MultiConsoleGamer1269d ago

Both.

They're going to do both.

Geobros1269d ago

Thats another opinion which is respectable too.
