The Wonderful 101 and others receive a price cut on the eShop.
While thats still a bit high (you can find it for less at retail) for The Wonderful 101, it's still a fantastic game I suggest to anyone looking for something quirky and a little different. I mean, it's easily one of the Wii U's best exclusives and offers a lot of depth if you're looking for it. Shame it never took off in terms of sales, though I suppose that is to be expected given the so so marketing Nintendo gave it. =\
I could not agree more - except regarding marketing. People ask for new IP's but history and sales suggest all the marketing in the world wont persuade people to change from their established IP's. Wonderful 101 is not a 'perfect' game - I own and have almost completed it, it is however a very, very good games, innovative, creative and challenging = basically everything people appear not to want. COD, Assassins Creed, GTA, etc, etc, people want the same, a VERY small change to the formula akin to episodic content, that is all.
"People ask for new IP's but history and sales suggest all the marketing in the world wont persuade people to change from their established IP's." I disagree to an extent. This is basically like saying, Remember Me had a female protagonist and didn't sell, so Capcom decides to never make another game that has a female protagonist or something along these lines. Basically, you never know until you try and I wouldn't say two Nintendo directs is really a way to push sales. Especially on a platform that almost every journalistic outlet calls underperforming (even more so back then). Now, I am not saying they should do 50,000 commercials on TV, but it wouldn't have killed them to do a promotion like buy SMT IV + FE and get $30 via Club Nintendo or offer a free shirt if you register the CN code or put a few commercials on Nick / Cartoon Network. I mean, I am not saying they should spend millions on marketing, but enough to increase awareness.
Wonderful 101 was my personal game of the year. It absolutely blew away all my expectations and has some of the best combination of intense deep gameplay with a fun entertaining story and characters. Yes i did play and beat Last of Us, GTA V, Mario 3D World and Zelda ALBW ... Wonderful 101 was just more fun and innovative for me . People always want Nintendo to do something new and then they dont buy it (nintendo owns the ip ... not platinuum) Its really sad to think we might never get a sequel thanks to the poor sales. :(
