Today Sony Computer Entertainment announced with a press release that multiple organizational changes have been finalized at the company, including the opening of a China strategy division.
There were rumours of a July release for the PS4 in China but we'll just have to wait and see how accurate that was.
If consoles do well there , no one really can say because they haven't been allowed before there could be a massive giant market to cash in on.
Exactly!!! If it performs well the formation of Chinese studios to cater to that market as well as other market coulb be formed, bolstering the PS first party house. I hope both MS and Sony make a giant splash and claim the market, it only makes for a stronger gaming industry
A massive market would be nice if the chinese start to making games for it. Can you imagine chinese open world games from the XVI century because they have a rich history and im kinda tired of these western fantasy rpgs like skyrim and shooters
I'm shocked China hasn't just taken the ps3/ps4/360/xbone design yet and made their own console, as they steal designs of just about every other product known to man and pass them off as as their own homemade products with simple rebranding. Companies can't even sue for this, because China won't allow the suits in their court system and disregard judgements against them made in US courts altogether. Ahh, the benefits of communism at work.
Hang on... But I thought Sony were doomed? Surely they can't be opening new business areas. /s
The subtext is in the phrase "finalized orgizational changes" to increase focus in other areas to proceed in an efficient manner. Cut waste, make sure you have people working for you that actually produce results. Explore new opportunities and make sure you have a division capable of addressing those markets. Business as usual.
china dont like japan people or hardware from japan
We won't know if that matters or not until a playstation is released in china
gaming unites ALL nations!
China dont like the US or hardware from USA. See what I did there?
Thats like saying Chinese people wont by Chinese made products.
That is actually not true. They do not like their imperialistic history and foreign politics. But one thing they like about Japan, is the technology. Trust me on this one. (lived, studied and worked in both countries for years, I speak both languages and studied their culture in universities). Now that China is finally opening it's doors to new consumer electronic fronts (because they can make money out of it), it's plausible things are going to change quite a lot in the coming years in terms of market share. Asian tech and car companies are usually much stronger in China than their western counterparts. Apple is an exception, though. EDIT: I wonder if this is april fools' though! :P
Sure, just let the money do the talking.
dude, we don't like chinese either, over thousands year we had war with chinese, over hundreds year we fought with french and japanese and dozen year later we fought america but now we still use thier production, political mean sh in consume mind, we choice something we prefer the most
Sony computer entertainment China?. SCEC??. I hope that this will not affect the PS brand since China and Japan were involved in sensitive issues like island disputes this past months....
Why would that affect anything, people seem to forget PS4's are made in China, commerce between the two countries is unaffected by tit for tat disputes.
Governments like business are usually willing to overlook disputes in one area so they can benefit from another.
If it is, it's a terrible one.
You guys do realize what today's date is right?
If this isn't a dumb April fools joke, then this pretty much confirms PS business is heading to China. I envisage western game studios re-locating to Shanghai or equivalent, to reduce development costs. It's very plausible that a Chinese Electronics manufacturer may enter the Console arena which will be cheaper to manufacture and still be powerful. Chinese gamers are used to PC's for obvious reasons, so Steam Machines could flourish there, and ALL current consoles should do well there. People tend to flock to what they can't/couldn't have, as with all banned products or materials anywhere in the World. Schools across the developed World are (slowly) implementing Mandarin into the education system because they recognize China as a G.E.F. (Global Economic Force), and don't want to be left behind.
We've been hearing stuff like this for almost a year now.
Sony will have to first try to meet all the excessive demand for the PS4 before going to China. Hurray for PS4 therefore domination in China. (dark souls 2 Players will know)
Well, they could likely open another factory in China, much like the situation with Brazil, that would both alleviate the demand by increasing supply, and catering to the local market. China might even cut Sony a deal as far as taxes go or something similar.
Why do I get the feeling this is an aptil fools joke lol. Guys be careful of what news you read today the big three love this day cause its soo easy to fool people!
