From curing lazy eye and reducing cravings to keeping pensioners nimble, video gaming can have positive effects on your wellbeing.
This story makes great points and doesn't even look at things like depression or anxiety -- I know when I'm having an anxiety attack, playing a few games is a great way for me to calm down.
Great for hand eye coordination. Great exercise games. Helps elderly with mobility. Keeps you indoors and away from Air Pollution, Second hand smoke, gunshots, drunk drivers, Zombies, and UV Rays.
I'd say the No1 physical benefit is hand eye coordination and reactions which stimulate the brain. I hope I'm able to still play fast fps games(and be competitive) when I'm 80!!
Yeah, video games were my tether to reality when I was in a serious depression. Hell I knew more people I could trust and talk to through online gaming that actually cared about what was going on in my life than my teachers or bosses/co workers did.
Been there, was paralysed for a number of years and gaming, game forums, IRC etc kept me from thinking about it - though I never mentioned my health to anyone as I didn't want sympathy just wanted to forget about it.
Can we please stop with these ridiculous articles? Stop trying to validate gaming.
